Silver Lining--He should lose a lot of independent voters over this.

Right now he is at 38% to Romney's 48% with independents. If he does he has no chance of winning.

I think it's too naive to think so. Definitely to count on. However, the Republicans really need to analyze this and find out if they need both Rubio as VP nominee and making a campaign issue of Obama's stretching out his tongue. Maybe the latter alone can grab Florida with such a large over-the-hill population. But who then could be chosen running mate from Ohio? If either candidate wins both those states it's unlikely enough others will change what's otherwise expected regardless of any one issue.

The election is a ways off and I question if Mitt Romney can beat him. This President needs to be booted out, but I am not convinced at this point it will happen.
This was actually a smart move on his part after the VP made his announcement. This way it will be hashed out early with lower polls and the people will forget about it after the Democratic national convention when I believe his ratings will shoot through the roof.
Our nation has lost its way because the church has lost its way. I think the fact that we have a communist, Marxist President with socialist values in the white house and his opponent is a Mormon non Christian proves it when we could have had someone who was a real Christian with moral values if the church was on solid ground. Not only is it that the overall country does not want sound moral people to lead, the church for the most part does not want it either as we have turned to seek a form of godliness while denying the power of the real thing. :tear: I believe that we are about to reap what we have sown.

And gain the support of all the homosexuals and lesbians--as well as people who see nothing wrong with that perverted lifestyle even though they don't partake of it themselves.

Although I didn't believe it to be true when I read that Obama claimed to be a Christian, this is just one more thing that proves that claim to be a lie. God says that men with men and women with women (sexually) is unnatural and an abomination.

The gay and lesbian population represents about 2% of the electorate but 6 out of 10 of wealthiest supporters of the President.

But why make this announcement now? Makes no sense. Why not tuck it under your desk calendar (along with Keystone pipeline) and bring it out in Janauary at the inauguration?

By doing this now, and with the looming SCOTUS decision against his healthcare (and for Arizona's immigration law?) this is a bad move on top of a bad move. Could start creating motivation to vote for Romney in ways Romney could never muster.

While I respectfully disagree with Mr. Obama's position on this issue, it is refreshing to see him take a position more liberal than me.

Placate the gay constituents. Get it out of the way early. It's 6 months til the election, a lifetime in election politics, they're hoping people will forget about it. It was a coordinated effort. Last week a cabinet member said he favored gay marriage, then on Sunday Biden also announced he was in favor of gay marriage, so now Obama does it.

I certainly agree with you that this was a well orchestrated political move by this adminstration and the Democrat party.

He's probably hoping we will forget this as well:

    [interview from 2004]

Q: “Mr. Obama, you've said that your religious faiths, your religious faith, dictates that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Would you elaborate on that?”

OBAMA: “Well, what I believe is that marriage is between a man and a woman, but what I also believe is that we have an obligation to make sure that gays and lesbians have the rights of citizenship that afford them visitations to hospitals, that allow them to be, to transfer property between partners, to make certain that they're not discriminated on the job. I think that bundle of rights are absolutely critical.”

Q: “Excuse me, but as far as, why? What in your religious faith calls you to be against gay marriage?”

OBAMA: “Well, what I believe, in my faith, is that a man and a woman, when they get married, are performing something before God, and it's not simply the two persons who are meeting. But that doesn't mean that that necessarily translates into a position on public policy or with respect to civil unions. What it does mean is that we have a set of traditions in place that, I think, need to be preserved,

    Excerpts:

"Some top aides argued that gay marriage is toxic at the ballot box in competitive states like North Carolina and said the vote there this week shows that opposition to the issue is a rallying point for Republicans."

"Yet some prominent gay donors have said publicly they wanted Obama to announce his support for gay marriage. Other Democratic supporters claim Obama's decision could energize huge swaths of the party, including young people. He also could appeal to independent voters."

I believe his [now admitted] stance on gay marriage will cost him the election.

People who support homosexuality and abortion yet profess to be followers of Jesus Christ are either lying about their faith or are in total rebellion against Scriptural teachings and the God who gave them.

Since that is an exact description of Romney, glad to hear you have changed your mind. In addition, Romney is a member of a cult that does not believe Jesus Christ is God.

Romney is not pro-gay marriage. See this thread:
    http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=78667

In addition, he has stated that he is pro-life and given the reason why he changed his views as has been stated before in other threads.

Did you get over your CP experience and are back on board with the CP or are you going to vote for obama or stay home, SN?

    S/N

If I had my way there would be another Reagan on the Republican ticket for president. As it is I have to make a choice between a known Marxist who don't like this country and strongly favors abortion and probably euthanasia and Mitt Romney with all his faults. I am not going to have a childish pity party and not support Romney and the Republican Party this fall.

If I live until the Constitution Party becomes a credible alternative to the Republican party and is really what its name implies then I will support that party's candidate for president or whatever.

What redeeming qualities do you see in the Republican party. You have failed to show any evidence of a gap between the two, whether it be domestic issues, foreign policy, or morality. Anyone that votes for Romney is voting for the same qualities they have criticized Obama for going on four years now. What is your justification? Do you think he is going to find the golden leaves and balance the federal budget?
