Last night I gave each of the kiddos a couple of old, holey socks to put over their hands, and had them "dust." They did the window blinds and we were all amazed at how well it worked. I guess using a sock-covered hand is more effective than I originally thought! The socks also worked great on the tv.

I've used old socks for bandages. My mother fell a few weeks ago and tore up her elbow. Her skin is so thin that it literally peels off when she's injured and her blood is so thin that she bleeds for days, So I put gauze on the wound and taped it, then cut the toe out of the sock so that the heel fit perfectly over the bandage. It stayed put and held the bandage in place and she could still bend her arm. This would work well for knee scrapes on kids too.

Cut so you can slip over shoes, and this makes a good non-slip shoe covering to walk on ice - when unavoidable.

Those are great ideas. You can take long tube socks, insert a couple of tennis balls and tie closed, then use to roll under your feet for a massage.

I put them over the washing machine hose that lets the water out to catch that linty junk.

Bar of soap in one makes for a good weapon.

Cut holes for fingers and keeps snow off kids' skin when sled riding.

    Puppets.

Ooooh, can we just put a blank there and fill it in ourselves? Are baseballs a choice?

Aren't you the creative one! LOL!

I'm still wondering why webdog considers SOAP a good weapon. Do we really want him to explain that one?

Well, it COULD be a good defense against stinky people if you also carried a spray bottle of water. You could quickly spray the sock of soap, scrub the odoriferous person down, then run like mad before they knew they were unstinkified!

Oh, and there's also the famous "butter sock" from iCarly. LOL

not sure my socks would make a non slip shoe. I used to take my shoes
off to be able to slide around the dance floor on my socks in
    junior high

I remember a movie from years ago where a group of guys held one guy down and beat him with a sock with a bar of soap in it
