I have not seen a link yet where the president touted his own foreign birth. Maybe there is a flaw in my server's access to Google. Could someone point to a link where the president touted, or even said he was born in Kenya?

I can see the point if the article said 'Why Obama refused to deny claims of his Kenyan birth' we might have an issue, but 'touted?'

Maybe, but not near as sensational as saying 'touted'.

No one ever argued that President Obama was a principled man. If he were he would not be a politician.

It may not sell as many headlines, but a discussion of why President Obama did not deny stories of his Kenyan birth would be much more profitable and set a reasoned tone for the discussion.

It is quite reasonable as it is. There is an appearance here that he had every intention of this happening and his silence mean he took part in it. "Touting" is an accurate description.

'to solicit business, employment, votes, or the like, importunately.'

    Source

Touting implies a brazenness, an urging, or a persistence. None of these describes what Obama did by not denying the notice by his literary agent.

That said, it was at the least unprincipled, if not dishonest. He was taking advantage of the 'coolness' which came with exotic associations with being black and with the locales of Africa and Indonesia. If he had denied this early on the birthers would have no basis for their silliness of the last few years. He made a dumb mistake by not clearing things up early, especially if he had any idea of ever running for president.

There is a Connecticut Social Security number belonging to a dead man, too.

And obama's Kenyan grandmother said he was born in Kenya. I sure know where my grandchildren were born. Most grandmas don't make mistakes about where their grandchildren were born, especially if it was in a foreign country.

Check out this affidavit by an Anabaptist minister interpreter:

Giving the benefit of the doubt and assuming you are referring to the article and not the moderator?

Liberals believe it is fine for them to lie in order to promote themselves or to further their agenda.

What they have to offer society is so much more important than the truth don't you know?

Does anyone remember Clinton's claim of seeing Black Churches burning in the South when he was a kid? Complete fabrication.

Or Hillary Clinton's claim to babysitting for migrant worker's children when she was in grade school? Complete fabrication.

The problem with "the One" is that there are so many lies and fabrications that it is not possible to begin to address the latest before the next one is issued.

I can't wait for "the One" to become "the Once".

How about Joe Biden's assertion that he once had a job where he carried his lunch bucket to work?

Or Biden's complaint that he's getting sick of being called Middle Class Joe. A Nexus search of news articles shows numerous quotes by Biden calling himself Middle Class Joe!

How about Clinton's claim that he rode in the back of the bus with his African American friend because he didn't want his friend to be forced to ride in the back of the bus alone...

After the desegretation laws were passed.

A good fabrication to further the cause is preferable to the truth to a lib any day.

    Here is a link: http://news.yahoo.com/born-kenya-obamas-literary-agent-misidentified-birthplace-1991-215754016.html

I read that and remember seeing one other thing that my memory tells me came from his own mouth, but that was before he was going for President. (I liked him in the past because he seemed interesting so I did read a little about him prior to his presidency bid, but no recollection of where since I thought nothing of it then)

Anyhow, the only thing I see online NOW that points to it would be that brief bio by his publisher, who now claims it was an error, although it was there for years and as far as anyone I've ever known, they always approve their own bios. People want to make sure their bios are to their own liking, so it would be odd indeed if he actually never saw/approved it. Humans are prideful, and a lot even write their own in third person just to make sure it sounds good.

So I would find it odd indeed that such a thing could exist for so long and be a true error and he never saw it or tried to have it fixed. Publisher's make money off people...and generally aren't going to mess up on something as major as where their client was born and raised. That's pretty far-fetched IMO. It shows a lack or attention to major details and he's running a country when he couldn't control his own bio when he was still a shrimp? Scary.

As to possible reasons to lie? Maybe they're good excuses, but they're still lies and if they are true, that he did lie to get more benefits or make himself sound better, it exposes a deep, deep character flaw that one doesn't want in someone leading our nation.

That link is well known Gina. I am looking for the link where the president said he was born in Kenya which is the charge.

Anyhow, if lying disqualifies a person from being president which politician is qualified?

Or Al Gore's invention of the internet.

You've hit the nail on the head here.
