Books of the Holy Bible

    The original transcripts were insipred by the Holy Spirit. However, when a group of men in the middle ages decided which books would be in our present Bible, were they guided by the Lord to perfection? Does the present day Protestant Bible contain all the books it should? Are there books that should have been left out? Are there books that should have been included? Did we leave out inspired books and include non inspired books?

    My mistake, I read 1367 instead of 367. That really has nothing to do with the question. Also, to be technical, the Bible books were changed up until the Reformation.

    Actually, the evidence points to the canon being pretty much settled very early on - even before 367. 367 was a formality to make things official but there are documents listing the books we have today as scripture.

    the OT canon would have been pretty much fixed by the Jews by time of Christ, and the early Church fathers had pretty mucjh listed the entire NT canon by their quotes/refernces of the NT books as being authorty from god for the Church to use..

    RC Council ONLY listed as the canons what was already redcognized/established by scriptures by the churches and fathers...

    I agree, however, it is not like when a group of theolgeans met they were being Inspired the same as the original manuscripts.

    And about the canon, the different branches of Christendom have different canons -- sorry to have to break that news to some on here.

    The Canon Comparison Chart that Deacon posted is interesting.
