Remember those who serve, those who have served, and those who died that we might have the freedoms we still have. Also remember the families of these patriots!

Thanks for that posting. One member we all owe a debt of thanks to is Carpro. American blood is a precious commodity. Service men and women have gone and fought many times since our nation was founded without regard to politics or opinion. They just did their job. I could say lots about the conflicts since WW2, and our involvement in them, but that is on the idiot politicians. Our men and women who died for our freedom and liberty are owed the highest degree of respect and honor.

Yes indeed, we should always remember those who gave all.

We have the freedom to post here on BB because of their sacrifices.

May God bless those who died to preserve our freedoms and the families they left behind!!

What do the last few wars have to do with our freedom?

Memorial day does not distinguish where the patriots were killed and the fact that some may have been killed needlessly makes it worse on those left behind.

“What does this war have to do with our freedom” was a common protest for WWII. As there are no longer any vets from WWI, you’d probably be safe (i.e., not alone) to remark that no current living vet has fought to defend our freedom.

I don’t mean to get into politics – but if your definition of men and women being killed in service equates to these servicemen being mere victims of politics rather than dying in the service of their nation, please have the dignity to hold your applause (just enjoy the cookout...quietly).

I think that was made quite clear in an above post. The military does what it is told. They are not political. They do a job. If wars since WW2 were not justified, then that is at the doorstep of the politicians in power at the time. For example, Vietnam may not have been justified, but that has nothing to do with the brave men and women that fought there. The returning vets from that war certainly did not deserve the disrespect they encountered upon their return. If there was anger to vent, then Lyndon Johnson, Robert McNamera for the most part, and the Nixon administration to a lesser degree should have received the blame.

Well said S/N! My sentiments exactly.

I have thought a lot about the way the men returning from Vietnam were treated. I believe that was about the time a lot of noise was just starting about the "silent majority". Well the "silent majority" sat on their behind and let it happen.

This thread is to honor those men who gave their life for freedom. Some have complained that we went to Nam and Korea-ect - that those wars was not for our freedom. We wanted to allow the citizens of those countries to have the same freedom we enjoy. I am sure some in France in 1776 wanted to know why Frenchman were sent to the New World to fight for some rebellious colonists!
I am thankful that France did come to our aid.

And as far as Vietnam - have you ever talked to any RVN (Republic of South Viet-nam) soldiers who were sent to "re-education camps" after the Communists conquered South Vietnam. This of course happen after the so-called "peace treaty" of 1973. Afterwards, the US Congress promised financial support for the RVN - but Congress went back on their promise.

This video is a memorial to the American Solider of all wars from 1776 to the Present day. In addition, may we also remember the RVN soldiers.

WW2 was an obvious righteous war. When is the last time we declared a war or a war was declared on us? Pearl!

When was the last time you thought before you typed. I didn't realize Westboro had a branch in the Pacific Northwest.

My family has served in every conflict since the Revolution in the hope that the next generation won't have to. Thank you to all from a mostly grateful nation.

I am thankful for the men who both served and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Someone else mentioned Carpro, who served in the Marine Corp. I also know that Bro. Curtis served in the Navy and Salty served in the Army. I know there are many others here who served n the various branches.

In spite of our many differences, it is because of these men and women that we are allowed to express and yes, even argue over these differences. I fear that had these people not been willing to serve this would certainly not be the case.

Again, thanks to the Veterans, as well as those currently serving, for a job well done!

George Martinez, Robert Scheidel, George Landi, Robert Bates, Ron McLean, and Michael Hicks...all Marines. And Corpsman "Doc" Minks.

These men I knew and served with, as well as others, gave all.

I remember them many times during the year, but always on Memorial Day.

Thank you all for remembering them as well.

As I approach 21 years of service, I remember friends I have served with and the families they have left behind. They would be here with me, approaching retirement or retired by now and spending time with their loved ones but for the love of their country.
