62% of the people in Utah are Mormons. 62% + 78% = 140% out of 100% I'm studying math right now you can't slip those kinds of things by me.

In no shape, form, or fashion, are Mormons Christians. Christians believe Jesus Christ is Savior, Son of God, and God. They believe Jesus Christ is not a created Being, but here from eternity past.

Christians do no believe that Christ is a created being and brother of Lucifer, Gabriel, and Michael.

Christians believe that God the Father is One God.

Christians do not believe that God the Father self replicates Himself every few eons.

Christians believe they spend eternity with the Lord.

Christians do not believe that they will inhabit Jupiter, Mars, and Neptune.

Christians believe that Jesus came to earth and died once for our sins.

Christians do not believe Jesus Christ made side trips to South America.

Christians believe that the Bible is the Inspired Word of God.

Christians do not believe the Book of Mormon is more sacred than the Bible,or sacred at all.

Christians believe that the Holy Spirit Inspiried men to pen God's Word on paper.

Christians do not believe that the angel Maroni (Macaroni) wrote God's Word on a couple of golden leaves then handed them off to some divinity to bury them, never to be seen again.

Christians base a description of life in eternity on Holy Scripture.

Christians do not base a description of life in eternity on a SyFy movie.

The Author and Founder of the Chrisitan faith is Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, in Bethlehen, as foretold in the the Old Testement.

The Founder of the Christian faith was not a gun slinger, adulterer and drunk. The Founder of the Christian faith's mother was not a prostitute. While no one is perfect, neither were the major prophets of the Christian faith.

Christians believe that marriage is to one person for life.

Christians do not believe in collecting spouses like one does stamps.

Christians believe the New Testement church has always been preserved.

Christians do not believe the New Testement church was but back on trace in Illinois during the 1840's.

Christians believe in the unity of the Trinity.

Christians do not believe the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost act independently of each other and go about their busines without regard to the purose or will of the Lord.

One could go on and on. To get back to the op, I think the bottom line is that Utah has the fewest Christians per capita of any state in the nation. Utah is without a doubt on the bottom of the list. I would be surprised if there were 40% of those who claim to be Christian, more likely in the low 30's. That is something to ponder, Utah is behind Vermont and Massachusetts. z

These people who make these polls have little to no understanding what a Christian really is. I seriously doubt that there is even 50% of the people who attend church on any given Sunday morning who are really Christians much less 78% of any state.

If just 5% of the entire US is made up of real Christians I would be surprised.

We finally agree on something. The list of states is based on a secular definition of being a Christian. Perhaps it could be labeling those who identify with the Christian faith. A true relationship with Jesus Christ is another matter.

I have seen people join a church for the sheer purpose of having a church to list in their obituary. There are millions of members on a local church roll who show no evidence of any spiritual qualities. They have not been to church for years. There is the group that only attend on Christmas or Easter, when family visits, or when there is a pot luck. Another group will attend more regularly, but never got out of their pew to visit, testify, get involved in a ministry like helping those in need, drive the van, or anything else that requires any effort to help someone besides themselves to the church dinner being served at the time. Also, I do not consider church gossip and social club activities redeemable spiritual values.

If one takes all that into consideration, you are correct. I doubt you would break into the double digits in any state.

Mormonism is an infection to the Christian faith. We have a retired minister in our church whose ministry for decades was small Baptist churches in remote areas of the West. Several were in Utah. The churches operated on a faith budget. While in Utah, this pastor relates to us that getting a job to supplement income is next to impossible in Utah, especially the rural sections, if one is Baptist, or really, anything but Mormon.

Our missions pastor came (2 years ago +/-) from pastoring a church in Utah, and his figure would be more like .78/100 rather than 78/100.

Don't think I would make any plans based on this poll's data!!

The early stages of the Romney effect.

If Romney becomes POTUS there will be more fuel for the false assumption that Mormonism is just another branch of Evangelical Christianity. After all, Romney can't win without overwhelming support from Evangelicals.

Possibly, but what is the alternative - keeping the ZERO (Mr. executive order) and the continuation of his socialist (giving him the benefit of the doubt) policies????

It is a sad choice for Christians this November. After much thought, Romney is only marginally better. In other words, despite his being a Mormon and his record as governor of MA, he is slightly ahead of Obama.

Neither one is good for this nation. Voting for a person because of less damage is not the way to choose a leader. Can you imagine being able to say, "I could vote for candidate A or B, but I am going to vote for B because he is more likely to balance the budget." In other words, a positive choice instead of negative.

I will say this. I think one should understand Mormonism basics and Romney's record in MA before casting a vote for him. Then compare him to Obama and see which one will do the least harm.

If 62% of that 78% are Mormons, then that means that 16% are actually Christians--maybe. I suppose it's possible that a few Mormons could be born again (I met a born again Catholic once), but that religion is not Christian when they call Jesus the brother of Satan.

You get the prize - fal!!!!!

My sentiments exactly. The people who conducted this poll had no understanding of what it is to be a Christian. They limped anyone and everyone who said they were "christian and went to church [once a year, I suppose] into one category." This is why the "Highway to Hell" is wide and overcrowded, Christian is a loosely applied term; something like "love!" :tear:

According to results from the 2010 United States Census, Utah was 62.1% Mormon.
