Creepy, really creepy. And disgusting. :BangHead:

Americans better wake up. This is something they do in North Korea and China......I guess all dictators are paranoid and will retain power with an iron fist if necessary....who ever believed in 2008 this would be some of the tactics of 2012.....

You are really paranoid. There is nothing nefarious going on here. They aren't doing anything that online marketers and advertising companies haven't been doing for years. Google knows more about you than the Obama campaign.

Well, politico thought it was newsworthy.

I guess you're okay with being data mined for political purposes.....

    Slippery slope......

Please point out something in the article that shows that Obama or his campaign is gathering any type of information that every marketer in the world isn't already gathering on you?

Corporations are gathering information on all of us that use the Net. They are the ones who are on the forefront of gathering information on people.

I am sure all political parties are mining for information on voters. It is a fact of life for us, we are all being watched by all kinds of folk.

For those of you who think this is so horrible, please detail exactly what information they are collecting on you that you object to. Please be specific.

I read somewhere that the constitution grants me a right to privacy, so I would prefer "they" not know I hang out at the Baptist Board and a forum dedicated to real expensive air rifles because "they" will know I am one of those people clinging to my guns and religion. Apparently the smart people who currently run the country look down on that sort of thing.

Who is "they" and how do "they" know that you go to those forums? Where in this article does it say that collect that type of information? Where are the facts to back up your claims that the Obama re-election campaign has access to and collects that information?

I was following your line of reasoning that they (the Obama campaign techies and all other generic "theys" in any good conspiracy theory) are doing what market driven researchers like google do. Are you backing off that? I guarantee Google, Bing and others watch and track that kind of activity. That is how they know which banner ads to present to you when you visit various web-sites.

They know what banner ads to present to you based off information stored on your PC.

Again I ask, please detail exactly what the invasion of privacy is that the Obama campaign is committing.

Paranoia runs deep. If you use a discount card at the supermarket, you are being data mined. If you use the net, you are data mined. It is just a fact of today's society. To claim Obama is personally watching you is absurd.

I recently worked as a software engineer on the Washington State Department of Licensing (WA DOL) AAMVA Data Collection Team to bring the WA DOL into compliance with the federal Patriot Act mandates.

Here is one (of many) of the directives
    http://www.scribd.com/AxX1om/d/55068755-AAMVA-Social-Engineers

Washington State was badly anemic for the required mandated data and we had to connect to several local and federal data banks to fill in the blanks of the Washington Drivers Data Base.

Yes I am one of the bad guys enabling the data collection.

And there is more to come if the Patriot Act is not rescinded.

    Mea Culpa, mea culpa...

Its not only coming matt, it's here.

You would be surprised at the nature of some of the data AAMVA is requiring.

    Facial Recognition.
    Medical History.
    Criminal History
    Place of birth.
    Religious affiliation.
    Languages spoken.
    Political affiliation.
    Education Level

Plus extra room with unamed fields required for the up and coming additional mandates.

AAMVA (the last I heard) requires a full data disclosure with a seven minute time frame.

Right now the Washington Enhanced Driver's License (EDL) - (another project I worked on for nearly 2 years) - has twice the data base information as a regular license and can be used by American citizens to go back and forth to Canada without a passport (now otherwise required).

Soon all border states will be mandated as well, then all 57 States (ala our president). The EDL will then become your passport as well.
Regular licenses will be a thing of the past.

EDL's have an RFID chip which data can be read from a distance even while in your wallet.

So tell me again what information the Obama re-election campaign is gathering that I should be concerned about? Remember, that's what this thread is supposed to be about.

I'm trying to figure out why Obama is spending his campaign money on this anyway.

Exactly what does he think that he can learn about me personally that will help him to craft an ad that would EVER convince me to vote for him?
