    Corporatism (Romney) or socialism (Obama).

You only get two choices in this poll, just like in the real world.

Obviously I can't vote in this poll because I prefer limited constitutional government over corpratism and socialism. So, if y'all would be so kind as to keep me up to date I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Since I live in the real world...

Between the two I would choose corporatism over socialism any day of the week.

Interesting that you are unable to choose between the only two choices that you give everyone else.

Don't you live in the real world with the rest of us?

My Dad told me when I was a boy never to hate the rich man, because it is the rich man that gives people jobs.

Have you ever had a poor man give you a job?

I would hope for more and more greedy rich people, because they will start businesses and factories to make their products to sell, and they will have to hire a poor boy like me to make it.

Not necessarily. When I was a kid I knew two fellows who developed major modifications on coal tipples. By the time they had finished what used to employy over a hundred people could be run by 2 people. Tough luck for those who lost their jobs.

Sure, that's true, you don't see blacksmiths anymore, the automobile put them out of business. But today millions are employed making parts or servicing automobiles. That is the price of progress.

The fact is, the rich man needs the poor man. If the rich man put every poor man out of work, there would be no one to buy his products. Trust me, rich folks are absolutely aware of this.

Some whine continually that technology creates unemployment. Nonsense! Technology helps create jobs.

I was raised in the coal mining region of Eastern Kentucky, Southwest Virginia during the Great Roosevelt Depression. Miners drilled, blasted, and loaded coal; very dangerous work. My Dad said the first thing some miners did when reaching the work area was eat their lunch; just in case.

Technology developed machines like continuous miners that replaced men. Better to work above ground than below; no black lung.

Since you've rigged the poll, I shouldn't vote, but I went with Corporation over Socialism. At least under corporatism people can be individuals with aspirations.

And then he renamed it "labor union" which is why today union workers are owed by the unions.

Step out of line and your knee caps get broken or your car gets smashed up.

Merchants. The VOC for example, or the Dutch East Company combined business and government (military might) to carve out a global monopoly on the spice trade.

That's all corporatism really is. Business combined with government (military might) in order to make a profit or in our case a killing.

I'm still curious as to why one believes there can only two ballot choices.

    Fourteen Defining
    Characteristics Of Fascism
    By Dr. Lawrence Britt
    Source Free Inquiry.co
    5-28-3

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:

    1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

    2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

    3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

    4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread
domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

    5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

    6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

    7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

    8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

    9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

    10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

    11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

    12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

    13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

    14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Rigged the poll? No just trying to keep it real. The election is rigged so either a corporatist or a socialist will "win" the poll simply reflects that reality. If you'd rather vote for a third option go ahead feel "free" but be advised aforehand, "your vote will just be wasted" or worse "it'll help the socialist win".

Still waiting for an answer as to what kind of corporatist - with explanation.

You are half right- voting for a third party may help a socialist win - but a vote is never wasted!

Salty, I used the word corporatism because it's a milder sounding word (euphemism) for what in this country would better be described as corporate fascism. Seems that it's upsetting for some to see the words fascism and fascist used to describe the government of the United States.

You've seen it yourself I'm pretty sure. So, I used the word corporatism in the hopes that a softer word wouldn't be rejected as fast and have a better chance at generating some curiousity.

I imagine some folks even looked it up in the dictionary. At least I hope so.

Corporate fascism is described best Imho in this film by the late Aaron Russo. He made this film years ago and things have gotten much much worse since then so keep that in mind if you should decide to watch it.

It's called . . .America Freedom To Fascism.

BTW, corporate fascism works as well with democratic administrations as it does republican administrations because the only thing that changes is the administration itself. The global bankers and corporations (fascists) who actually formulate and drive the foreign and domestic policies of the USA never changes.

So don't think I'm saying republicans are more fascist than democrats because the party makes no difference. Why do you think things just keep getting better for the elite and crumbier for we peons no matter which political party is in power?

Peonage, now that is an apt description of the state this country is in and has been since 1913 (how many administrations is that?) but that's another story for another day.

    Enjoy the video.
