An apt comment on the youtube site:

Slavery by any other name is still slavery - in this case, the slave owner is the fedgov.

Most every American gets something from the government or some kind of special deal. Baptists are the exception? How many Baptists live on Social Security? Should they refuse food stamps?

and that is the problem - instead of being an asset, too many Americans are now a liability.

Which often (not always) is due to a lack of responsibility.

ABC brought up a great post in another forum how college students she knew (at a Christian college) were having children and then going on food stamps. That is not showing responsibility.

I worked 35 years for the government and retired and deserve what little I get to live on, and I don't use food stamps.

That reminds me of a woman a store employee told me about. The woman drove to the store in her new luxury car, wearing her mink coat. She filled two shopping carts full and paid for them with food stamps. The reason she could afford a new luxury car and a mink coat is because the taxpayers were paying for her groceries.

Jon, the difference is you worked for your benefites.
Same with SS - you have paid into the system.

However, I do not like the term "benefits" for food stamps, welfare, ect - they are not a benefit - they are a give-a-way program. Many on these programs are not pulling their weight.

The concept of "paying into" SS is a political fiction. The only guarantee of a payback is "the full faith and credit . . . ." Congress could cancel any benefits just as various state governments want to cancel pensions.

Compares collecting SS with food stamps.
