Oh no. We must invade Iran. When we do that China and Russia both will really act out.

No not at this point. They could be stopped if we had someone in the whitehouse that could lead in world affairs. However if they are not stopped may very well take that at some point.

How do we justify military action against Russia?

So you now have a use for our "brainwashed" soldiers?

Even if they will return home too violent to serve in law enforcement?

You'd think nothing would come of this. However, Japan has an energy problem (ie, only has 2 nuclear reactors running).

I wonder if Japan will go after the energy resources?

You'd think that after 70 years, they'd have worked this thing out.

In the past it was the threat of the US that kept Russia at bay. However because of how this President has handled Russia, for one giving in to them about the defense system in Europe, our long term current wars and over the top debt, Russia now is thinking it s time to flex its muscles. And yes it is about energy as well a sovereign claims. The truth is that this President has greatly weakened us in the world and things are possible headed for a real knock down and drag out.
Hopefully if we get a new President he will not make this health care thing his only priority. Instead he needs to gain back our standing in the world, quickly, or we are in serious trouble.

The islands in question are the Kurils. As the article noted, the Soviet Army occupied them at the end of WW2. At the time, the USSR and Japan were at war. Their ownership has been disputed ever since. So, this not a new problem. Why all the heat?

So you say that you would support military action against Russia, but when I ask what exactly justifies military action against Russia--which, as Targus pointed out, you're usually dead-set against brainwashing military members more than you think they already are--all you can give me is a fruity reply?

You need to talk to a professional therapist about your obsession with fruit.

Er... I mean you need to confess and forsake.

    Why Does This

situation call for US military action? The Soviet Red Army occupied the islands in the last days of WW2. The conflicting Soviet-Russian\Japanese claims go back to the 1800s. This is a bit of territory which ends up in the hands of whoever won the last war.

Seems to me the Japanese have been dealing with it for 60+ years; US should only get involved if asked; and then only with diplomatic processes.

The situation is over a hundred years old. AFAIK, the only people talking about US military intervention are on this thread. The Japanese are happy to do a diplomatic waltz over the islands.
