    Hi,

    I am a baptist pastor ministering in the UK and I am looking forward to discusion, debate and fellowship on this board. As my name suggests I am reformed, adhereing to the doctrines of grace and the 5 sola's of the reformation. My understanding of scriptures teaching is best expressed in the 1689 Baptist Confession of faith.

    It simply identifies the teachings that I believe best express biblical doctrine.

    That doesn't really tell me what it means. I have been a Baptist for over 49 years, and I believe that the churches I've gone to do just that. None of them were "reformed" as far as I know. However, the pastor I have now says he is "reformed", and it's the only Baptist church closer than 30 miles (It's only 5 miles away)--so it's either there or nowhere. I no longer drive and have to ride with someone, and rides are nearly as scarce as hen's teeth. :laugh::laugh:

    Well you have to ask him what he means, often it refers to a baptist that hold to baptistic covenant theology, the doctrines of grace and the 5 sola's of the reformation. For many that doctrine is best explained in the BCoF which can be read here;

    Normally, refers to a Christian holding to doctrines/theology of the reformation, strong calvinistic, usually holding also to covenants, and to Church being now "Spritual" isreal... Normally also A Mil in future events...

    presbys hold to infant baptisms, baptists holding to such do belivers baptism..

    welcome abroad! You and Icon should hit it off well!

    I take it then that you are throughly Reformed, holding to basically same as say presbys, but holding to believers baptism?

    It's not quite that simple, my ecclesiology is different to that of the presby's as well, as is my one point of me hermeneutic, whilst they rely on 'good and necerssary inference' a reformed baptist does not :D
