Does God Judge Federated States?

God judges according to righteousness or lack of it. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah? The entire city ( or was it 2 cities?) destroyed because of the wickedness.

I have no doubt that the US will be harshly judged by God because of the fact that we have been blessed with the gospel longer than any other country (other than the Jewish people who reject Jesus), and that gospel has been rejected and/or perverted with lies that have crept in silently. How many churches are still preaching the unadulterated truth of God's word?

We are seeing good being called evil and evil being called good. Lord, how much longer?

 

In the Nt . God judges individuals and nations:
20 And Herod was highly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: but they came with one accord to him, and, having made Blastus the king's chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourished by the king's country.

21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.

22 And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.

23 And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24 But the word of God grew and multiplied.

 

Sure He could judge individual states for their actions. Sodom is a good example of subunits. I am not about to say the order or degree of judgement should follow the electoral map, because that assoicates a Holy God with the likes of the Republican Party. However, red states tend to be the last to comply with federal law that goes against God's law. For example, on our march to a fifty state gay marriage nation. I would think my state would be one of the last holdouts. In general, this would probably apply to the Southern states minus FL, most of the Great Plains, and the interior West.

None of us know how or when God decides to judge something. In our finite minds, we think places like VT, MA, and CA should have already gotten the penalty. However, liberal in itself does not guide the Lord. In fact, one of the most dispicible acts in American history was the way blacks were treated by state governments in the South from the end of the Civil War until the late 60s, yet they are all very conservative.

My state is extremely conservative, and much of the economy is run by tobacco and alcohol, plus we have a very robust underground marijuana network. Nevada is conservative and their economy is based on gambling.

One thing for sure, examining the heart of a nation, there is core reasons for all of this, called sin. Over the last several decades, as the Lord has blessed us, we have become affixed with me, myself and I, instead of caring for others. IMO, America and its states are quite ripe for God's judgement at any moment.

 

No, I did not address slavery. I gave a few examples from American history. The way blacks were treated in the South during the early 20th Century is a seperate subject than slavery or slavery in the North. Perhaps the reason why I used this is an example is that I grew up in Mississippi in the 50s and 60s and saw it daily. (another thread) Aside from all the social seperations and being treated as second class citizens in general, was the belief by some pastors that blacks had no eternal soul, and a law in Mississippi (long repealed, that the Lord) that a black could not marry a white.
