The party of NO strikes again.

What is it they have to hide?

As you should know, on some issues as soon as the Democrats no longer had 60 sitting Senators.

This is a circus/distraction vote. Harry Reid knew it wouldn't pass. This is just so they can say Republicans are the party of "no." So, I ask, CTB, why does this matter this year - why didn't it matter in 2008 or 2004? Is it because the Romney campaign is getting higher donations than the Obama campaign? That's gotta be it. George Soros and the Hollywood Crowd better dig a little deeper for the O.

    Huh...

You mean the GOP controls the senate on SOME issues, and the Democrats on others ?

Do you really know so little about how our government works?

On some issues 60 votes are needed to pass the bill/issue. If one party or the other does not have 60 senators the opposition party can block any or all those issues by voting as a block ... preventing the issue from receiving 60 votes.

    Got it now? Probably now.

Did you see in the quote in the OP of this thread it stated:

On SOME issues ? What issues do they NOT need 60 votes ? How's come this can't be one ?

I didn't make up the Senate rules. Why not do some research on your own and become semi-educated on how the government works?

    O-kay, o-kay I know you won't so here is why ........

In case you still do not understand it takes 60 votes to stop a filibuster.

    <edited for correction>
Republicans are doing what we sent them there to do, block the takeover of our government by the socialists (progressives). They have failed miserably in the past, like passing the incandescent light bulb ban, and getting us into "undeclared wars" among others. I am still disgusted with Republicans, but mind you, disgusted, not repulsed like I am with the Democrats in Congress and the snake in the oval office.

From what I understand, they were sent to stop Obama, Reid, & Pelosi. I only hope they mean it.

I edited my post because I was wrong about the number of senate votes that passed obamacare. But now that it has been declared a tax, all that is needed is only 51 votes (reconciliation). So I had the 2 confused. Sorry for the mixup.

I understand your sentiments, even those I disagree with. It is rather like being a member in a Baptist church. I may disagree with another, but I will defend their right to hold those opinions.

Politicians in both parties play all kinds of tricks in attempting to get what they want or prevent the other fellow from getting what he wants.

Regardless, we can all be civil even when we have strong disagreements.

At St. John's College in Annapolis ... not to be confused with the St. John's University ... there are rules in the student seminars that are held twice a week. The number one rule is regardless of how much one student may disagree with another they must be polite. Seems a good rule to me.

As I have become older the black and white world that I saw when I was young has faded away. It is not that simply. There are many shades of gray. Sometimes we must select between seemingly bad choices. Then we must decide which of the bad is the least of the bad choices.

We all really are in Plato's cave whether we realize it or not. The Allegory of the Cave, when I first read it, was very enlightening to me.

I believe that 1 Corinthians 13:12 makes the same point.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

    Not a problem at all.

    Good point Lady!

We can always depend on CTB to keep us informed of the good work the Republicans are doing in Congress.

Now, back on the disclosure bill. Senator McConnell just explained it to Greta on Fox News. There is a "carve out" (his words) so that it doesn't apply to Democrats, i.e., unions etc. Additionally, there has been a White House memo circulating warning companies who have government contracts that they will not do business with the government if they vote Republican. Also the FTC, SEC, IRS and other agencies have gone after Republican donors from this adminisration.

The bill is unnecessary. It is another trampling of our individual freedoms.

By law, the maximum amount an individual may contribute is $2,500 for the primary and $2,500 for the general election.

Also, when you contribute, you must sign that you agree that the following statements are true and accurate:

Of course, labor unions have figured out a way around this. It seems you can give to the Campaign headquarters without a limit restriction. That is how Bill Maher was able to give $1 million to obama, evidently. And how the Hollywood crowd is able to donate $30K per plate and same with the Detroit crowd donating $30K for a pizza party with obama.

And we all know that foreign entities (like China) have contributed to Bill Clinton, et al.

So this is just another gotcha the Dems are playing and finally Republicans are beginning to wake up to this garbage.

I cannot help but remember obama's own words towards Republicans and my fellow Americans that we are his "enemies" and we are "terrorists" and they will bring a gun to the fight.

    These people are scumbags. Totally.

Harry Reid knew this wouldn't garner the necessary votes, yet he put it on the Senate docket. You railed about the Republicans wasting money voting to repeal ObamaCare. How much money was wasted on this? Are you going to similarly condemn it?
