The Stewart County Republican Party says Governor Bill Haslam has “demonstrated a consistent lack of conservative values.”

At least two of the resolutions, from Stewart County and Williamson County, oppose the Haslam administration’s recent appointment of Samar Ali, 30, as international director at the state’s Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD). Ali, a lawyer and a 2010-2011 White House fellow, received both her undergraduate and law degrees from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, where she was the first Arab-Muslim student body president. In an emailed statement, Clint Brewer, assistant commissioner for communications for ECD, called Ali “one of the brightest leaders of her generation from this state.”

But Republicans in the state denounce her as being an expert in “Sharia compliant finance.”

“Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam has elevated and/or afford [sic] preferential political status to Sharia adherents in Tennessee, thereby aiding and abetting the advancement of an ideology and doctrine which is wholly incompatible with the Constitution of the United States and the Tennessee Constitution,” the Williamson resolution, dated July 10, 2012, states.

The Stewart County resolution, meanwhile, lists several grievances against Haslam beside Ali’s appointment. The document faults the governor for retaining state employees hired under former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen; for retaining gay people who work in the Department of Children’s Services, and allowing them “to make policy decisions”; and for refusing to sign legislation opposing Agenda 21, a non-binding UN plan concerning sustainable development that is the subject of numerous fringe conspiracy theories.

    http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.co...-openly-homosexuals/politics/2012/07/18/43954

At least nine county chapters of the Tennessee GOP are circulating resolutions condemning Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam, a Republican, for various issues, some including not firing an openly-gay staffer and a Muslim lawyer. Demanding the GOP take “appropriate action” against Haslam, the attacks listed among nine resolutions include charges that Haslam “[a]llowed and retained openly homosexuals [sic] to make policy decisions in the Department of Children’s Services,” “hiring people from the Obama administration,” “elevated and/or afford [sic] preferential political status to Sharia adherents in Tennessee,” “a consistent lack of conservative values,” and “[n]on-support/lack of leadership with regards to handgun carry permits holders in last legislative session,” among many others. (Grammatical errors in the resolutions should come as no surprise to anyone.)

    Then there’s this:

According to the Tennessean on January 15, 2012, Governor Haslam admitted to retaining 85% of the Democrat Governor Phil Bredesen’s Executive Service Employees.

One of the latest Executive Service Employees has included Samar Ali, an expert in Shariah Compliant Finance which is one of the many ways Islamic terrorism is funded. She is also a one-time Obama appointee and her family has a long history of supporting the Democrat Party.

    Politico notes:

The Republicans groups’ anger is directed at the June hire of Samar Ali, a Muslim lawyer, to head the international section of the state’s economic development office. Ali, a former White House fellow, is a Tennessee native and was the first Muslim president of Vanderbilt’s student body. The son of Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) recommended Ali for the job. She has worked to help Muslim-owned corporations structure deals to avoid the religion’s ban on interest. . . .

Well, I voted for the man because he "claimed" to be a Conservative and I feel the anger a lot of those TEA party people feel, too, because they probably endorsed Haslam based on his, what we know now are "lies." We have mosques going up everywhere around Nashville. And Nashville is so multi-ethnic anymore, it is hardly recognizable. We have the largest Iraqi population in the US.

You go to Sams Club and if you find one person speaking English, it's a pair. I don't trust the burqas, who knows if there is a suicide belt underneath the garb (usually black). I always look to see if there is a kid or 2 and if they are buying groceries or if they are alone. I hardly go to Sams Club anymore.

Haslam just goes to show once again, THEY ALL LIE - just to get your vote!!!

Thanks for posting this, billwald. I haven't been keeping up with local news lately.

From a blog I just googled:

I sincerely hope this post is a joke of some sort. Being a xenophobe is not a requirement for being a conservative.

    America - the Segregated?

I'm not opposed to the hiring of folks because of their race, religion of sexual orientation. This is America, and everyone still has the right to work if they want to! To promise anything different than this as a political platform is wrong...

However, I agree with LE. It seems that everywhere I go [in Sounthern California] I come across areas that are look like another country. There are Mosques going up everywhere, and then you have all strip malls that call themselves "Little Mexico's; Tokyo's; Koreas; Russia's and Hong Kong's!"

Enough is enough! This is America. Whatever happened to the melting pot theory? Ethnic regions are popping up everywhere, and it no longer seems to be a nation of many different social backgrounds, rolling up their sleeves and working together to make this nation one in the same.

My cult-de-sac is mostly Hispanic, and from Fridays, nights through Sunday evenings, the sound of Mexican music permeates the closed doors and windows of my home. Please don;t get me wrong: I'm not against enjoying your brand/genre of music: Just enjoying it so loudly that a person can't enjoy their own genre of entertainment within the closed walls of their home.

Just a mile from where I live, there is an area that is pumping out the hip-hop sounds of rap, along with its extreme subwoofer thumps jarring your eardrums!

Finally, it wasn't that long ago, that I drove by a Mosque and because the day was cooler than most, my windows were down, and all I could hear was the sound of mid-day prayers in Arabic. Once again, I found it interesting that those who are within shouting distance of the Mosque has to be subjected to the call to pray and the prayers this religion holds dear.

I can't help but wonder if Christian churches would be afforded the same freedoms in an Arab nation/society if their service was broadcasted outside the walls of their building, disrupting those who live within shouting distance beyond the church???

In fact, I wonder how my neighbors would like it if I set up my church sound system and pumped C hymns and music all weekend long? I'd probably be visited by the cops and scared into turning it down.

There was the day, when I was much, much younger, that I remember my grandparents and relatives [all were from Germany] sitting around on holidays, talking in German and listening [quietly] to German music and polkas. However, when I'd ask my dad or relatvies to teach me German, they'd say, "This is America, and English is the language our kids will use!" Now that seemed hypocritical at the time, but, now it makes sense!

The melting pot spirit is no longer visible, and I can't help but wonder if it may help this nation if that kind of unity and direction were to return. After all, we are not Russian-Americans; Chinesee-Americans; Mexican-Americans; African-Americans; etc. We are all Americans, and regardless of where we migrated from, we need to be moving towards becoming American in every sense of the word.

In my community, there are racial gangs running the streets, and racial profiling running the people who enforce the laws. Graffiti is even reflecting the racial background of its author/artist?

What is wrong with this picture? Is the idealism of a melting pot America drawing to its end?

The reason America is more and more segregated than ever before is because the idea of ASSIMILATION/Acculturation is dying on the vine!

My question is how do we get ASSIMILATION back on track???

Sorry if this seems like a rant. I was just wondering a loud.....

Your reading comprehension needs work. Ladyeagle didn't say she hated foreigners. She is just concerned that we invite into our country those who want to kill us.

Tell you what, if you find someone breaking into your house some night, save them the trouble and invite them in.

Xenophobia doesn't mean hatred of foreigners-it means illogical fear of foreigners. And constantly fearing that somebody will blow themselves up in Sam's Club (when no suicide bombing has taken place on American soil) is pretty illogical.

Who bombed the Murrah building in OKC?

Who were the terrorist killers at Columbine High School?

Who was the terrorist with a rifle in the University of Texas tower in Austin?

Who did the terrible deed in Colorado last night?

How many people have died through accidental shootings in their homes since 9/11?

The terrorists won with you BroC. If you posts are really what you feel then your life is controlled by fear.

I will not let fear control me? The probability of a terrorist being responsible for my death is much lower than my death being caused by a drunk driver.

Actually I happen to be of the ethnicity and even the same last name as the Virginia Tech shooter-so should I be deported? And the average Muslim in the US is about as likely to be a terrorist as your average American is to be a murderer.

In my opinion you should only be deported if you are here illegally or if you are a Muslim.

    I see.

Gen Mung Beans said there hasn't been a suicide bombing in America. He said none has taken place on American soil.

He is wrong. There has been.

None of the other events ANYBODY mentioned were suicide bombings. Maybe Columbine. Ceertainly none of the others.

I await apologies from several people. At least you could say you COMPLETELY misunderstood my post. I expect stupidity out of C.T.Boy, but M.P., apologize.

The point is, and has been, there have been suicide bombings, here, in America. G.M.Beans was wrong to say there hasn't been.

Also, I have been consistent in my speaking out against the Patriot Act, even moreso that the liberals who USED to be against it. Enough so, to frame my argument that I support any part of it is a deliberate lie.

We corrupt every new generation in exactly the same way - with consumer goods and general immorality.
