    So what's your point?

Bain Capital bought companies that were failing and salvaged them...

Along with the jobs that were going to eventually be lost.

    Get over your hate, Crabby.

Romney and his supporters love to point to Stables. Were jobs really created? Not likely.

Most Staples employees are paid a wave that leaves them below the poverty line.

What is a man with the responsibility of supporting a wife and two children doing working an $8.00 an hour job?

If that is all he can find then he should be working a second job.

Why can't his wife work when the kids are in school or in bed?

    Whatever happened to personal responsibility?

Why is it Romney's job to create only high paying jobs?

How many jobs has Crabby created?

I know that as a free lance indexer he is taking away someone else's job at some publishing company and doing it for less too.

    Hey Crabby.

You are off topic in your own thread.

Yes, we know the difference between venture capitalists and private equity firms.

Romney was not a venture capitalist. So what?

Also, most jobs at places like Staples are part time entry type of jobs and $8-$10 is the market rate.

And if they paid $20 an hour Crabby would no doubt be telling us that is poverty wages for a family of fifteen.

"..with President Barack Obama's campaign accusing Romney of slashing U.S. jobs at Bain-owned companies and outsourcing them abroad."

Which has been proven to be a LIE yet Crabby insists on repeating it.

"...private equity typically comes in at later stages to turn around underperforming companies, sometimes via job cuts and other unpopular cost-savings moves."

IOW - private equity rescues companies that are going under and saves jobs from being lost.

How many jobs has the big O created?

    From:http://www.baptistboard.com/showthread.php?t=80143

Americans Joining Disability Now Outpacing Americans Finding Jobs
Since 2008, 3.6. million Americans have been added to Social Security's disability insurance program. In that same time period, a net total of 1.3 million jobs were lost.

"Amazingly, while fewer Americans are working than at the end of 2008, 3.6 million Americans have been awarded SSDI benefits over the same period. The growing number of people on disability and other federal benefits, combined with weak economic growth, raises serious concerns about the sustainability of the American economy," Senator Jeff Sessions, ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, says in a statement in response to these new numbers.

Who are you to belittle any job? Where I live, eight dollars an hour goes a long way. The Bible says it is our job to support our family. It mentions nothing about the rate of pay or the nature of the work. There is dignity in any job the Lord has supplied. Everyone has different skills.

My high rate of pay before retiring was about $30 per hour, without a union. What makes that job any less or more important than someone making eight dollars an hour? Pay rate is set by the market. For example, why do teachers make less than garbage collectors in NYC? The rate is not set by education or training.

So, since you like to ask questions, how many jobs have you created? What have you given back the nation that gave you the opportunity to pursue a career? To exercise your freedoms, like you alleged posts on BB? What has the jobs that you have taken done to help others?

I will give you one thing, your character is consistant.

He has created ZERO jobs. Romney, despite all the reasons I am not crazy about him, has created jobs, made a payroll, and in essence, helped several families do well. A person who owns a business is a person willing to take a risk, is thick skinned, patient, and has a vision, all good qualities of a leader.

OR, this question is a little off topic, but did you like Strom Thurman? I remember my grandfather talking about voting for him for President as a third party candidate I believe in 1948. Also, whild speaking about South Carolina, does Bob Jones University still exist?

I have started three companies over the course of my adult working life.

Two companies were from the ground up starting with an idea and then built with my own savings and a loan against my home.

In the last company I bought the assets of a failed company and restarted the operations - hiring back the original employees and hiring additional employees as the company grew.

In the process I re-organized the operations and changed the pay structure from hourly to performance based. The average employee pay increased about 30% under the new system and the company thrived.

I have created probably 50 to 60 jobs between the three companies.

I have since sold the businesses and am enjoying semi-retirement here on the shores of Lake Michigan. I look out my window of my office in my home and enjoy the view of the woods - including an occassional deer fawn.

I also keep active teaching at the church and volunteering in other capacities.

Thank you for the compliment. I hope that I am consistent.

Please tell me about your job creation successes.

The companies I have created are based on helping others, not taking. The businesses were/are second jobs in addition to our careers.

Anytime you would like to compare companies, jobs at church, leadership positions, just let me know. Maybe we can post our college transcripts.

While you are admiring Lake Michigan, why don't you jump in it.

Ditto - so you seem to agree that a person does not necessarily have to settle for a single minimum wage job.

    Good for you.

I really don't feel the need. But I suppose that someone lacking in confidence might have such a need.

With this beautiful weather that we have been enjoying - I do as often as possible.

If the Lord gives a person a minimum wage job to support his or her family, then that is what they do. That does not indicate the skill needed to do the job, as in the example of the NYC garbage industry. The market dictates the wage. Regardless of pay or type of job, anyone who is working to support their family is doing the Lord's will.

In different circumstances, that is where you or I could have been, and doubt you would have considered the job amusing or a joke.

    I agree.

I was at a Republican dinner in 1964 when Strom announced he was switching parties to support Goldwater. I liked Strom and voted for him. However, I thought he should have left the Senate at least two terms before he did. I doubt Strom was the racist some believed. He was a strong believer in States Rights as I am!

Bob Jones is still there. Don't know much about it but as far as I know it is a good school academically. I have a book on theology by a doctoral graduate of Bob Jones; surprisingly he is Presbyterian and not dispensational, name of Robert Reymond.

And is that ALL that they should do?

    No second job?

No additional training for a different job?

And in your opinion is someone who is ONLY working a minimum wage job - without taking additional work - without looking for a better paying job - without attempting to improve their job skills - really "working to support their family"?

My first job was cleaning bathrooms at a Montgomery Ward store. I obtained an education and got a better job.

At another point I was not earning enough to support my wife and our first son so I took a second job at night as a dishwasher - while going to school full time.

A full time day job - a part time night job - and college.

The only thing that was missing was sleep.

Why are you so defensive here?

Confession is good for the soul.
