All of us are sinners, flawed, subject to errors in judgement, make mistakes, and will as long as we walk this earth. We all have a dark side, saved and lost.

I guess about a generation ago, our sinning seemed to take a new diminsion downward. When I was going to school, (50s and 60s), I do not remember a mass school shooting, or killing for the sheer enjoyment. It seems like it started sometime in the 80s.

Not that I condone it, but killing someone for revenge, in the heat of an argument, or even will committing a crime gone wrong is understandable, or at least we can figure out a reason why the killing took place. This started with Cain and Abel.

What I cannot understand is the senseless slaughter of innocent people, and many of them. This was obviously something that was well planned. It was an attack on people that had never done anything against the gunman. They were just there to enjoy themselves.

What do you think is the motive that goes through someone's mind, besides pure evil. We all sin, but there is some minimal level of decency in all of us. What went through this person's mind? Why? The Bible says our love for each other will grow cold in the last days, but how more evil can we get?

It is a shame, but we cannot give this person a punishment that matches the harm he has caused.

“Now, even as we learn how this happened and who's responsible, we may never understand what leads anybody to terrorize their fellow human beings like this. Such violence, such evil is senseless. It's beyond reason,”

    President Barack Obama.

    A true statement.

Now his campaign will exploit it for whatever they think they can get out of it. Primarily gun control.

But they will undoubtably try to connect the shooter to some conservative cause or another.

SN, the first time I heard of an actual murder (other than TV) was JFK when I was a kid. Then I heard of the Boston Strangler and the Kent State shootings and the clock tower sniper. I don't remember which order. Grew up in St. Louis. Never heard of razor blades, nails, or poison in candy at Halloween. We would go door to door to complete stranger's houses with pillow cases and come back with our bags stuffed full of "loot."

I remember seeing West Side Story. That was the first I heard of gangs. But that was in New York. Not where I lived. Now every American City has a gang problem.

Never knew anyone who took drugs or smoked pot. The worst was some boys in high school going out on Saturday night having a few beers they sneaked out from home.

    Terrorism? Never heard of it.

The world has changed. I miss the 50s and early 60s.

People tell me there is just as much evil in the world today as there has ever been. I don't believe it. The world is different. More violence. More evil.

A person who blames this act on either candidate is evil.

Sit back and watch your fellow liberals at work. It should be entertaining.

    The Dark Knight Massacre

I was at a midnight showing for The Dark Knight Rises "not that one" and can see how this guy looked like some charter in costume and the audience was taken by surprise. :tear:

I was quietly pondering these events to myself, and thinking about the irony between what's deemed as entertainment vs the reality of what happens in real life. People getting shot, murdered. I still don't understand why people want to watch it as entertainment. The reality of it is terrifyingly horrific.

Why? Evil, yes. Evil is also helped along by what people put into their minds every day. It DOES reach the heart and those without anything to hold it back, those ones have no reason, no cause to not let those fantasies grow and fester and in cases like this...finally live them out.

We're inundated with violence so much, I'm really just relieved there isn't more of this stuff and really wish there was none. None at all. And no movies or shows or books glorifying it either.

Last night's shooting was motivated by nothing else but a sinful and wicked heart.

And Obama's speech about the event was uncalled for.

"Michelle and I will be fortunate enough to hug our girls a little tighter tonight".

What kind of heartless statement is that in light of this terrible tragedy? He may as well have said "Our children are alive, yours are not... too bad." Thumbs down to the President's address.
