Although I am not a fan of country music I do have a 14 year granddaugher who likes and enjoys Carrie Underwood's music. I was dissappointed to see her come out in favor of gay-marriage especially from all appearences being of a humble beggining, and from Oklahome getting her start by singing in church. It is sacraficing your values for a carreer. Remember what it did to another Oklahoma girl, Anita Bryant.

The Policital Correctness of this Country...

...has many fine folks bowing at its throne in order to enhance their career and in her case put people in seats and sell albums.

This was prophesied in the days of old, and it is a sad thing to see how prophesy is coming to pass. :tear::tear::tear:

Its sickining watching this horrendous nauseating form of blatant hypocricy and apostacy taking place.

Over and over and over again we see these people proclaim to the world thier faith in Christ...and then completly contradict it by proclaiming to the world thier acceptance of EXTREMELY hidious blatant sinfulness.

If anyone still thinks we are not in the end times....

    Surprizing...No...Sad...Yes

It should be hard for those of us who know God's Word and view this world from that frame of reference to be surprized by the direction Carrie's life has taken. Sadly, in her pursuit of fame and fortune she has been influenced strongly by the company she has been keeping in the godless music industry that now exists in our day. That, and of course, the "lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.Their only real pursuit is material wealth and pleasure due to their "love of money" which the Word plainly says is "the root of all evil"(the KJV has it right!)I would add that Dolly Parton was the same way or as one baptist pastor I had great respect for put it...(in reference to Dolly)"she came a long way from being a baptist choirgirl to get to the "Best Little Whorehouse In Texas". Sadly, and with all that gift of God-given talent she has,I'm afraid that Carrie Underwood may be heading down the same road. I sincerely pray they both repent and turn to the Lord before it is eternally too late.....and finish their lives using their gifts for God.:praying::tear:

I'm not that familiar with Miss Underwood with the exception of a song title. But if I'm not mistaken, Britney Spears started out singing in church as well. The same could be said for legions of entertainers, especially those from the "Bible Belt."

With gay being considered the new black, we can only expect to see more of this at all levels of society, particularly with those who are featured in the tabloids.

The Cathey's are the exception, not the rule. But without the Lord, who can stand?

There are a great number of Christian rock bands...

....that have crossed over, too! This deeply saddens me, but it is truly their decision.

Amy Grant is another who has left her faith for the world and she's been paying the price ever since. :tear:

Two Words that Don't belong together!!

Of course I admit that this must be referred to here as "my opinion" but the word Christian and the word Rock are (in "my opinion" to which I am entitled) an oxymoron and don't belong in the same sentence. As for these contemporary "performers" and "entertainers" we need to be fruit inspectors and evaluate them based on their adherence to Biblical Truth. What kind of Biblical Doctrinal stance do they take and with whom do they fellowship and associate themselves with. This stuff IS important lest we wind up as compromised and worldy as many of them are."A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump". The one's that have already been mentioned in this thread are just prime examples of the kind of things we need to be on-guard for.By the way...I am not EVEN judging these people as far as whether or not they are truly saved.

I remember right after American Idol, she came out with the song, "Jesus Take the Wheel", and everyone was praising her for being a christian. I was skeptical at best, but I never said she wasn't christian. I told people that just because she sang that song, it doesn't make her a christian. I even told them that Hank Williams, Sr.'s biggest song was 'I saw the Light", and he died in a drunken stupor in the back seat of a car. Elvis would sing gospel songs all the time, and even had some pretty big hits like, "You saw me crying in the chapel", "Peace in the Valley", etc.

I see Mrs. Underwood in this light, "having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof".

If we the church (the church universal), had never looked to the goverenment to regulate marriage to begin with we wouldn't be having these discussions. We gave over to the state the authority to decide who was married in the eyes of the church and now we are reaping what our forefathers sowed in effort to slow the growth of Mormanism/polygamy. If we had sucked up back then and simply refused within our congregations to recognize those extra marriages without looking to the government to do our job as a society, this conversation might never happen.

I personally support the government being forced to recognize marriage between people who wish to declare themselves married for the purposes of a contractual living agreement(the support of children and division of material goods in event of a divorce) and leave the religious aspects of marriage to the personal beliefs of the individuals within their own religious communities. But I'm a liberal so my beliefs probably don't agree with many on this board.

Really, what do you expect of entertainers, of politicians, or anyone living of the world? If we really evaluate Christ's teachings in the Sermon on the Mount, its clear He was teaching the listeners to be different, to think different & to be of the Kingdom of God ....not man. So we as Christians need to both teach our children to be obedient to God & live lives of loving commitment to Him & not the world of Men. Personally, I am way past fighting those who have made up there minds to put human agenda before Gods agenda. Anymore, I just ignore them.

I don't think this is a liberal point of view - I think it is the true conservative point of view. I have never understood why the state gets to decide who is married to start with. I agree that if 2 people want to share their goods and be recognised as a civil partnership they should be permitted. Then the church can marry them if they want.

I don't want to be a government official when I marry people. We have couples go to a local office, do the paperwork to be legally contracted ( I normally go as a witness) then we marry them in a church service. I like the way that works.

Apologies Amy, but that is such an absurd question that I do not deem it worthy of an answer.

OK Roger! What if one of the two in a couple (man & woman) admits to you that they have had strong sexual "feelings" for others of the same sex & they are concerned that they may have homosexual tendencies. What would you do prior to the marriage?

Obviously we would deal with that in counselling. The only marriage we conduct is a church ceremony - they are already joined by state law.

OK... do you believe that the person who avows to being a Homosexual is in fact one by choice & choice alone?

I have no idea why my view of homosexuality as sin is being questioned here. I am trying not to take offence at the implication.

I won't merit this questioning with a response.

Well you are taking offense but know that I was not trying to offend you or anyone on this thread....rather I was trying to get a better understanding of the position of the religious in this Homosexual discussion.....again I meant no disrespect.
