Bringing about cultural change

No not as believers. As believers we are to go and tell, not go and conquer and rule. If we are citizens of that country then yes we are to do all within that nations laws if permitted, but not as believers from the outside by force and I assume you mean military or some other force. That was tried in the crusades.

 

I believe we have a moral responsibility to stop any evil act that is within our power to stop. This is why I supported going into Bosnia and why I volunteered to go to Kosovo. In both instances we fought to stop genocide, rape, and other acts of torture. An obvious example is working to defend and save the Jews during WWII.

On a local, more personal level, it may mean stepping in when seeing a man beating his wife or girlfriend. Another example is providing a safe haven and getting help for a child enduring sexual or physical abuse.

I support, and have engaged in, such acts while knowing that nothing permanent happens unless the heart is changed by Christ. We cannot force this change. We must preach the Gospel and pray that God changes hearts and gives eyes to see and ears to hear.

This is also why I believe an armed citizen is a good thing and a godly man or woman with the capability and opportunity to stop something like the Aurora shooting, or the Wisconsin shooting, can and should act quickly and decisively.

 

BTW, the Crusades were a response to Muslim aggression.
