John Piper Quotes from Don’t Waste your Life

“You don’t waste your life by where you work, but how and why.”

“We make much of Christ by working to keep us from being dependent on others, while focusing on the helpfulness of our work rather than the financial rewards.”

Kent Hughes Quote from Disciplines of a Godly Man

“The Way we work will reveal how much we have allowed the image of God to develop in us. There is immense dignity in work and in being workers.

I personally believe that Biblically speaking we are not guaranteed FREEDOM from hardships, and trials in this life. This may mean that some of us may go to our graves deep in debt, and others will have them paid off. This is not being NEGATIVE this is being Biblical. The self-help types will always accuse me of thinking negative when I am thinking Biblical. Having read much of what John MacArthur preaches, and having listened to some Charles Stanley sermons I have realized that both preachers have the same view in this area, and that is that God may not give us a career or a work environment that we love, but a place where we can serve him, and this MAY NOT BE what we desire and want, but a place where he wants us. We are to be content in what we have and this no question is a lifetime journey.

Being a Christian is based upon WHO you are in jesus, NOT by what you do for him!

Are you thankful? Read these verses (1 Thes 5:16-18, Ps 50:23)

Eventually you will start giving thanks for a difficult co-worker, for a lack of funds, and even for difficult health issues. Thanksgiving will become so much a part of your attitude that it will become a natural response to the circumstances of life (Erwin Lutzer, Life Changing Bible Verses you should know).

The way to really be able to do things like that is by allowing the Spirit to produce his fruit in our lives!
