Your fave Baptist publications?

Voice of the Martyrs magazine. I love it! It is a more sobering read, but it gives insight on situations around the world that we as blessed Americans tend to ignorant or complacent toward.

 

Baptist ONLY?

I don't know how many of these could be called strictly "Baptist" publications but here is my list (and I highly recommend any of them):

One other thing...not all of them are free because I believe the rule that oftentimes you "get what you pay for"(and if that is true,I'd rather pay for it)even for the free ones I always try to send an offering regularly)

-"Acts & Facts" from Institute for Creation Research (free)
-"Days of Praise"(daily devotional") Institute for Creation Research (free)
-"On Tract" from Fellowship Tract League (free)
-the "Levitt Letter" from the late Zola Levitt's ministry (free)
-"PGM News" - The monthly newsletter from the venerable old "grandaddy of the Rescue Missions" Chicago's Pacific Garden Mission (my wife and I are regular supporters of this great work!) (free)(but DEFINITELY worthy of generous offerings!)

That's pretty much all of the paper and ink stuff and no...I'm not able to read all of it but I have plenty of reference and reading material. One of these days when I head on off to glory somebody can have a nice "collection"!

By the way...on a more "secular" note, I regularly read the following: Sea Classics (excellent maritime history) and TRAINS magazine (I'm a railroad nut too!)

The only other paper one that I can think of is the Daily Bread devotion. http://odb.org/ It's available on line and in printed copy too. While the printed version is available at no cost, donations are welcome.

Our church also supplies Open Windows from Lifeway to our members. http://www.lifeway.com/Open-Windows-Magazine/c/N-1z1407u This is a subscription based publication.

Of the devotionals, the best one IMHO is by Oswald Chambers, The Utmost for His Highest. http://utmost.org/ A friend gave me a bound copy that contains the "classic" version. http://utmost.org/classic/today/ that I read and compare to the "updated" version on line. (Which is handy for the clickable links to referenced Bible verses.)

One thing some people tend to forget, in this electronic age, is a pen and ink publication is nice to have when waiting. Especially waiting for doctor's appointments. Since I read Chambers as a part of daily devotions, the other two mentioned are ideal for "waiting". Use that time to catch up or read ahead as the case may be. Or, to read the Bible, itself. A good way, IMHO, to witness to others without having to say a word.

 

I like reading my church's bulletin...

 

I like the weekly newspaper of Kentucky Baptists, The Western Recorder. Our church has several subscriptions and make them available for members to pick up a copy when they're there.

It has good coverage of both Kentucky Baptist goings on and SBC wide. Its editorial policy years ago skewed moderate-liberal, but it has since moved to the middle-right. Its treatment of hot-button issues tends to be straightforward, and any ideological bias is not detected.
