...I can't help but wonder if the leadership we now have in place in this nation is part of God's reminder that what we, as people, live for, we get?

Many times in the OT, God sent evil Kings to lead the nation of Israel, and it sure seems that Obama is a spiritual reminder to the church that if we don't move from our seats to our knees, we can expect more of what we have today?

Do you think that God could be sending a strong warning to the people across this nation that greatness [employment, productivity, wealth, etc.] only comes to the faithful? With the growing move to be tolerant and politically correct, is America and our society/culture reaping what we've sown?

I tend to believe we are standing near the brink of some real spiritual chastisement, and a Godly whooping!

What do you think about the spiritual climate in this nation???

Spiritual climate??? Stagnated & as cold as Ice!!!!! I believe we in the United States---stand on the brink of---not a God whooping---but on the brink of some of the most severe forms of tribulations and persecutions that have ever faced Born again believers since the book of Acts and the days of the early Apostles and the Epistles they wrote!!

IOW----I don't believe God's gonna "whoop" America----rather---I believe that for the most part we(Believers) will begin to live out what the Apostle Paul had to say to the folks in Corinth in his second Epistle to them in 2Corinthiains chapter 4!!!

I believe that the harshest judgment God can bring on a people is to leave them alone.

I pray that we don't get to the point where we come to realize that God is not dealing with us about sin. It will be a terrible realization that God will allow people to simply continue the way they are going and reap the natural results of their sins.

Conversely, let us rejoice when God beats up on us. It means he cares about us.

Would you say that we need to "Take America back for God!"?

If so, when is the time you are pointing to when we were a 'Christian nation", when we were less deserving of judgement?

A better question is...Is God still protecting America?

I believe God has only lifted his little pinky from protection and 9-11 happened...as a warning!

When we are not protected by God...the enemy will attack!

Think its more that we are bringing on ourselves the judgement, as we are NOT Isreal of today, NOT His chosen nation!

principle of reaping/sowing here, as we have decided to neglect God in our nation in the famalies/schools/public square etc, so reap what we are sowing!

What does it even mean to "have Him still in their society/culture..."? If you think we are a specially chosen nation, what event or idea in our nation's past gives you such confidence?

We were founded upon the concepts of the Christian faith, despite best efforts of ACLU to deny that...

We were the first to recognise isreal as a nation...

We once had the Bible and God in our schhols/colleges...

yes, do think that we were once positioned to receive blessings from the Lord!

Do you think the US had God in our culture when official US policy sanctioned forced racial slavery?

Or maybe the mal-treatment of native Americans, the Manifest destiny, maybe when blacks were 3/5's human, or women's right to vote was denied, or when the Jim Crow laws were enacted... I'd like for them to maybe give us the decade in which the US was a Christian Nation, maybe just a year? month? Day? Maybe someone could clarify what is meant in the "America is a Christian nation" kind of statement. I don't think anyone's voiced that yet but it's getting close.

just saying the Founders were by and large founding the republic intentionally upon the Judeo-Chrsitian faith for ethics/practices/form of Govt/etc...

America has NOT folowed them as well as it should have, but still does not change the fact the Founders envisioned a nation whose God would remain and be the Lord! many times Jesus was named specifically even...

These would be the guys who said that slaves were only 3/5 of a person and protected the slave trade for another 50 years?

I would be interested the see the 'many times' that Jesus was specifically named by the founders instead of just 'Providence.' I thought those instances were quite rare.

If those quotes are a measure of the nation's favour with God check out President Obama's Easter address for 2012.

Think many of the founders did write and express that Chrsitianity, and specifically that of jesus and the gospel were the light they built this nation upon!

And even those seen as deists were holding to providence, God did intervene to save the new republic....

And the president gave a good speech, but was it due to his speech writer, does he hold to what he said?

Do you have evidence to back up your supposition, especially the last part?

My only contention is that the US is no more ripe for God's judgement today than she ever has been.
