Wow, Republicans never learn. Why would any woman vote for such a man? It is as if they believe it is always the woman's fault.

While this is another stupid statement by a Republican, once again you are distorting what was actually said. Once again you are reading headlines and not the article itself.

At no time did Tom Smith say that it was the women's fault that she got pregnant (if raped.) In fact the Huffington Post article is edited. Smith actually said that having a baby because of a rape was NOT the same as having a baby out of wedlock. However, he did say, as a father of the pregnant daughter it was similar. Here is the transcript of the interview:

Mark Scolforo, Associated Press: How would you tell a daughter or a granddaughter who, God forbid, would be the victim of a rape, to keep the child against her own will? Do you have a way to explain that?

Smith: I lived something similar to that with my own family. She chose life, and I commend her for that. She knew my views. But, fortunately for me, I didn’t have to.. she chose they way I thought. No don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t rape.

    Scolforo: Similar how?

Smith: Uh, having a baby out of wedlock.

    Scolforo: That’s similar to rape?

Smith: No, no, no, but… put yourself in a father’s situation, yes. It is similar. But, back to the original, I’m pro-life, period.

Comparing becoming pregnant from rape, forced sex against the woman's will, to becoming pregnant through consensual sex out of wedlock is stupid and very offensive. It shows an underlying disrespect for women.

Kind of like "The Life of Julia" by Barack Obama, eh?

I agree, if in fact Smith had done so. He was speaking in the context of his reaction as a father to his daughter having to decide whether or not she should get an abortion. He said he is pro-life in all instances. Therefore, to him the decision on abortion would be similar if the daughter got pregnant by rape or by consensual out-of-wedlock. No abortion.

There is no shortage of Godly Republicans. There is Senator Craig, Senator Ensign, Senator Stevens, Represenatives Delay, Foley, Wilson, Renzi, Scanoln, Rudy, Ellis, etc, etc, etc.............. My guess is they represent the 24 elders before the thrown in Heaven.

No CRABBY it shows you have a perverted view of reality. I don't know what you do for a living. You have something on your posts about the Lord sending you out. But if you cannot comprehend what Smith was saying, and from the above trash you posted you obviously do not, then you need to withdraw from whatever it is you do!

Ask a number of women if becoming pregnant through rape would be like having a baby out of wedlock.

I don't know whether you are simple minded or just pretending to be. Smith was not talking about how the woman felt; he was talking about how a pro-life father would feel. Not being pro-life you obviously could not understand.

So ask a number of women what they think of the statement. Would having a child because of rape be like having a child out of wedlock? Go ahead, ask a few what they think of the statement.

Or ask a few fathers if they felt it would be the same thing?

    Ok - I asked a few women...

Unfortunately for you they are true Christians...

And all said that for them having a baby no matter the circumstances is all the same in that they would NEVER murder their unborn child by abortion.

I asked one. She feels the same way I do. Abortion is murder and is the ungodly taking of innocent life.
