Why do current Republicans dislike the poor so much, even the working poor and the working middle class?

Typical Huff Post fluff and conservative bashing.

Yep, and the best help the middle class and poor can get is job creation by the private sector instead of government handouts by failed obama job creation policies.

What don't liberals get? Wealth is created by the private sector. Dependency and poverty is created by government handouts as witnessed over decades by Democratic schemes to redistribute wealth. Prime example is Detroit.

Obama's job creation policy was to redistribute wealth, or the tax dollars that only 50% of Americans pay, to his cronies - Solyndra, et al.

More fear mongerng by the Huff Post.

God says we are not to have the spirit of fear.

Edited to say: Democrats seem to dislike this country so much, they want to keep us all poor and drive our nation into bankruptcy. The National Debt Clock keeps on ticking by billions of dollars under the obama administration. Brilliant idea to show the National Debt Clock as the backdrop for the Republican Convention.

All my forbearers, both sides, would be considered working poor and all were Republicans. They were Republicans because they did not like the collectivist direction in which the democrats were moving. All my siblings and cousins could be considered middle class and they were all Republicans. [At least if any were democrats they kept quite.]

So old Crabbie you are looking at things from an elitist democrat position and are in the dark. You will remain in the dark as long as you read that leftist rag run by the elitist and super rich leftist Ariana huffington!

"Romney and Ryan are running a campaign centered on turning out their base in abundant numbers while depressing turnout among likely Obama supporters, with barriers at polling places (impeding low-income and minority voters)..."

    What does this even mean?

Are Republicans setting up toll booths at voting stations?

Making the voting machines password protected?

Crabby and Democrats sure like to say a whole lot of generalized and meaningless words:laugh:.

Frankly I believe the elitist democrats want a return to the days of the privileged few [themselves] with the rest of us common folks are in the serf or untouchable class. Seems to me that the leftists/democrats, at least in my lifetime, have always had a tendency to make a little demigod out of the democrat president.

I guess I will have to amend that a little; they didn't care much for Truman. He was poor before politics and dropped the bomb!

What Republicans do not understand is that there are many who are working and still remain below the poverty level. Republicans seem to hold them in contempt also.

And Republicans seem to want to redistribute money from the poor to those already rich. Tax cuts for the rich, but not for the poor.

Bush had a budget surplus but took care of that quickly and started this downward spiral.

    Tax cuts for the poor?

You mean the 47% that pay no income taxes but still get a refund?

    Those poor?

How do you cut taxes for people who aren't paying taxes to start with?

    In a nutshell?

Keep them poor and depending on handouts from the government in exchange for their votes.

Actually CTB it was the recession and 9/11 terrorist attack he inherited from Clinton. You do recall the dot com bubble burst don't you? You do remember the terrorist attack on 9/11 don't you CTB? The terrorist attack was directed by Osama bin Laden whom Clinton failed to take into custody when he could.

I do know that the average income of the middle class has dropped since obama took the oath. I do know that the housing bubble was created by Democrats who wanted everyone to own a home whether they could afford one or not and they pressured the banks to lend money to people who could not qualify under normal lending practices. And I know that my house has lost about $40,000 at least in value since obama took the oath of office. I see my pay check has shrunk, as well, since obama took the oath. And I say oath tongue in cheek, because he has trampled the Constitution under foot.

Also, more people are on food stamps, more people are without jobs since obama took office. His plan? To destroy this great nation and bring us to our knees. He is succeeding, IMO.

It means the Dems are setting up their lawsuits to steal the elections when Obama loses. It is pure desperation. It is a fact that Democrats set up barriers at poll booths.

I would be classified as "working poor" and I haven't voted for a Democrat since Rep. Charlie Bennett left office in Florida. Since the old- time Democrats left office or died off the Dems have gone hog-wild to the left (and the Repubs are not far behind)!

The poor do not pay the kind of taxes the rich receive cuts for.
