I don’t understand why Mitt Romney doesn’t offer to replace Joe Biden as President Obama’s running mate. Wouldn’t that save everyone a lot of time, money, and energy? After all, is there any real fundamental difference between Obama and Romney?

Of course there isn’t. This was most recently demonstrated in an interview Romney gave on “Meet the Press.” According to today’s New York Times, Romney said that Obamacare isn’t all bad and that while he has his own healthcare reform plan in mind, he would certainly retain portions of Obamacare if he were elected president.

    CONTINUE . . .

    The author asks.

Healthcare, education, job creation, running the economy, etc., are any of these legitimate functions of government?

Will either candidate ever ask this question? Answer, no.

"In fact, neither candidate will think for a moment that it is the federal government itself — and specifically its massive paternalistic state — that is one of the root causes of America’s economic and financial woes. That’s why they both keep looking to reform the system and both keep claiming to be the better reformer."

"So, why not an Obama-Romney ticket? Sure, it wouldn’t solve America’s woes, but neither will electing one or the other of them. At least it would spare the country the boredom, anguish, and expense of the next two months of the campaign."

There is no Constitutional provision to elect a Obama-Romney ticket. The nominees have been set, and the electoral college votes for President and Vice President together.

There is not constitutional requirement to have political parties. The founding fathers recommended against parties. The winning presidential and vice presidential candidates were not in the same party.

After Adams (President) and Jefferson (VP) from 2 different parties, the 12th Amendment was added to the US Constitution to keep that from happening again.

The way I read the 12th Amendment - the electors do vote twice - one for POTUS and one for Veep - so theoretically, they could vote Poncho as POTUS and Lady Eagle as Veep.

Unless State or commonwealth law requires it, an elector may vote for whom he pleases.
Electors have charged there vote a handful of times over the years - not often but it has happened.

You are right, they could make Biden President and Obama Vice-President. LOL The only was there would be a split party between the two offices is a tie in the electoral college, and the two houses of Congress controlled by opposite parties. Even at that, deals are made and it could end up one party anyhow.

Are you blind? Of course there is a large difference between the two. One is spelled O-B-A-M-A and the other is R-O-M-N-E-Y! Good grief!

Actually to the point, I'm not sure anyone could replace the GAFFMEISTER. Biden is a gaff a minute.

Would you please explain how Obama could be elected President and Romney Vice-President under provisions of the Constitution?

Unless the State or Commonwealth requires - the elector may vote for whomoever he desires - would be dumb to do so, but legal

    The constitution?

You gotta be joking right? The constitution says only a natural born citizen can hold the office of president yet Obama whose father was never a citizen sits in the WH.

No one cares about the constitution anymore most especially those in power. They despise it.

Can you please explain to me why none of you have addressed all the other issues in the article? Like why are "conservatives" so determined to vote for a person who believes in the same things as Obama? Have any of you actually read the article? There are deeper issues to be discussed here.

Yes, I actually read the article. What have you done in the last four years to promote a nominee that would exclude education, running the economy, and job creation from the federal domain? No, I am not joking about the Constitution. The writer makes his first point a Obama-Romney ticket, and offers no path that exists for such a possibility.

Once the nominees are decided, one works with what is left. So what are you going to do about the choices in 2016 besides post on Baptist Board?

Now you're just trying to avoid the other issues. I supported Ron Paul. And no I don't have to work with what is left because what is left is the same as what is.

Insanity has been defined as doing the same things over and over expecting a different outcome each time. You have read the republican platform, yes? You have compared it with their actions, yes? You have like me found it to be total hypocrisy, no?

Lots of people supported Ron Paul. So what are they suppose to do now? Sit at home on election day?

It's your turn to answer some questions. That's how a debate works. I answer some, you answer some.

You have read the republican platform, yes?

You have compared it with their actions, yes?

You have like me found it to be total hypocrisy, no?
