DEBT CLOCK & Billion Dollars - What is it?

When we were young, we heard millions being spent by the government, then in the 70s to the mid 2000s it was billions. Now it is trillions. That is a thousand billion. Before we leave this earth, we will hear the word quadrillion, a thousand trillion.

What is one billion you ask? It is enough to build a prison for everyone Congressman and Senator headed by Sheriff Arpiao. Chain Barney Frank, Mitch McConnell, and Harry Reid together.

This email has been going around for years and is filled with errors.

Here are the corrections:


A. A billion seconds ago it was 1980, not 1959.

B. A billion minutes ago it was 109 AD, not 33 AD. No matter the year Jesus IS alive, not was alive.

C. A billion dollars ago was only 2 hours and 27 minutes ago, not 8 hours 20 minutes.

Do you remember the old cartoons when the hands started spinning so fast the clock broke and the face popped off and springs were hanging out? When I think of the debt clock that is what I picture.

 

It will happen but it won't be a cartoon. It will be the country.

The unfunded liabilities are potentially the worst problem in the long term but something can be done about them if people have the will!

True. However, we don't have any real leaders brave enough to tell us the truth and lead the country in making the hard choices. We can come back, but it will require real sacrifice and a denial of "entitlements".

 

A fascinating web site. People need to get a clear picture in their mind of what a billion and trillion really mean. Lady Eagle posted a good thread describing one billion.

Probably close. I first registered in a democrat county in Southwest Virginia. They are probably still voting me there.

 

Very relevant. Bad credit means higher interest means more debt!

The sad thing is we have sat on our thumbs watching this insanity happen! Obamma added $5 trillion with the help of Congress and people are still inclined to re-elect him. The country will deserve what it gets!

 

How many of you have recently loaned money to the US government?

I did 30 years ago and the savings bonds have come due. Not that I would buy them this year.

 

We all loan them money. Its called taxation. Many of us get it back, though the government enjoys the interest, due to deductions and credits.
