The truth is the middle class was already buried when Obama took office and the last four years has been spent slowly digging them out. The economy was in free-fall when he took over. Unemployment was almost 10% when Obama took over. The housing market had already tanked when Obama became president. The first bailout had already taken place when Obama became president.

The recession is called the Recession of 2008. Obama became president in January of 2009. So he inherited the recession and the mess ... he did not create it.

Actually the economy was on an up swing by the summer of his first year. His polices went into effect after that and have drug out the recovery long beyond where it needed to be.

I am glad to see you acknowledge that the trouble began before he took office.

It certainly did not help that the Republican party made the decision before he took office that they would oppose everything Obama wanted. The recovery has been greatly showed by the party of "No" and the country as a whole has been harmed greatly also by this political decision.

The American people are not so stupid or with such short memories that they do not remember when the troubles we are still digging out of began and who was in office at that time.

Sure it was. In all fairness, we will never know what would have happened to the economy if the Bush bailout of 700 billion in October 2008, followed by the Obama bailout of February 2009 had never happened. Mix that with the fed policy of easing in the form of QE 1, 2, and 3, and about all the government could do has been done. What would have happened if none of this had taken place, who knows, but probably nothing positive.

There is no doubt that the money could have been used wiser, with less debt, and more targeted towards recovery. However, in the continuing mythical efforts to prove that the Bush bailout was more or less damaging than the Obama bailout, it has to be remembered that government has only a limited effect on the economy. The economy goes through cycles and is much more influenced by external forces such as markets and trade.

The point is 99% of those on this site are not voting for Obama for valid reasons. The last thing we need is a thread that shows an apolitical issue as a reason to vote for Romney or Obama. Valid issues to vote against Obama are increased debt, the same reason one could use to vote out the present Congress. Another reason not to vote for Obama is morality issues like abortion and gay marriage. Another major reason is the lack of leadership.

Romney is running behind because of a lack of ability to articulate his position, and defend his record in Massachusetts. The last thing this nation needs are strawman reasons for voting for Romney, which shows that we might as well reelect Obama.

As I recall, we have been over this before about not understanding issues of government, politics, and the economy. Posting apolitical issues only makes a case for reelecting Obama. Please confine your posts to the travel section.

Obama's handling of the "stimulus" cost millions upon millions of dollars along with jobs being shipped overseas even though he promised to create American jobs. But a better approach, since the money was wasted anyway, would have been to give each household that made less than $250K a year, a $10,000. check, tax-free. That would have been more productive than what was done (like wasting $500 million on Solyndra). The money for each household would have been put back into the economy, helped a lot of people keep their heads above water, gotten some people off of other government handouts, and perhaps created jobs here at home.

The middle class has been buried under obama's administration but the burying is going to go a lot deeper once obamacare and it's taxes kick in and the unemployment rate soars due to businesses folding up due to the increased obamacare taxes and mandates.

All Romney has to do to win this election is promise a $10,000. check (as outlined above) instead of a chicken in every pot. The "free obama phones" can't top that, lol.

    American families need a bailout.

What the middle class needs is JOBS.

The way to grow jobs is for the government to GET OUT OF THE WAY !

ummm.......he had both the House and Senate in his camp for two years. and he did nothing to reduce the debt which is what the main problem is right now. The Repubs have done their job in opposing anymore debt. Good for them.

The American people are not stupid. They know that the debt and Obamacare are the current culprits in the lack of recovery.

Very juvenile Crabbie. Obama had the House and a filibuster proof Senate the first two years and all we got was: $3 trillion additional debt, socialized medicine, falling employment, increasing poverty, more people on food stamps, decreased income in the middle income folks, increasing energy costs, and frequent violations of the oath of office.

Digging them out you say? Digging them out? Their income is down by 10%, the price of gasoline has doubled, and food prices are skyrocketing! And you call that digging them out!

That is false Crabby! Read it and weep! Unemployment did not reach 10% until October, 2009.

The only reason the unemployment is going down this year is that people are dropping out of the work force. There are fewer people working now than in 2008.

Obama made it much worse. Normally when a new president inherits a recession the economy generally improves if the president is smart enough to get out of the way. Obama was not! Roosevelt did the same thing in the thirty's, turning a recession into the Great Depression. All the while Germany was building the best army in the world!

Getting back to Joe Biden... If Obama loses will Biden be made a quasi-scapegoat because of his gaffes, in an effort to salvage BO's legacy?

Because of the perfomance last night, this next debate, the VP, is going to be great. So how do you think the Democrats and Obama will handle the last two debates coming up in just a few weeks??

I think after that performance last night, CTB is going to have to hire Obama on his missionary staff starting January 21st.
