This comes as a surprise. I'd have expected secular humanists, or perhaps Jews, to author a critique/rebuttal of David Barton's book: The Jefferson Lies. However, the book titled:

Getting Jefferson Right: Fact Checking Claims about Our Third President
    By Warren Throckmorton, Michael Coulter

is by conservative Christians. Grove City.

Anyone read any of these tomes?

I haven't read it but I heard it was coming. There are apparently some conservative Christian scholars who are very critical of Barton playing loose and free with historical. Something about the end does not justify the means. I can’t remember the source at the moment but it may have been a Christianity Today article.

Ah yes, "the end justifying the means". If Throckmorton and Coulter are correct, that means Barton is using the same strategy as the dreaded Commies of the 1950's.

Sorry, I'm not saying Communism wasn't a menace, just that I see some irony, here. :)

Well, regarding TJ, I just read a total horrible piece about him in Smithsonian magazine. Amazing how history is rewriting itself.....you'd think he was the most disgusting of disgusting individuals according to the "history" that is popping up.

Mod note: I am moving this to the History Forum.

    Thanks,
    LE

There is no reason to write a history book unless one has an ax to grind or a person to elevate. There is no such thing as a neutral history book and this includes the Bible.

For what it's worth...Barton is a bad historian and a hack scholar.

He simply is neither equipped nor proficient in historical methodology to present a reasonable case on any of his points. His history is baseless and full of errors.

Now we've had another thread about this in the history forum so please check that for my complete responses from several months ago when this issue first arose. :)
