Here they come again, just like they did in Hurricane Katrina. I am reminded of the Jimmy Durante line, Everyone wants to get in on the Act.
Although God did punish Israel for its rebellion and disobedience I believe that the natural disasters are in Gods Providencial Plan and are just a sample of what is in store for this world as pointed out by John in his Revelation. I don't Believe that God uses a daily planner in implementing his plan.

Why do Christians act like this is an impossibility?

God is righteous and He is just. He does not strive with man forever. Judgment does come. He proved it with the flood. He proved it with Sodom and Gomorrah. He sent Jonah to warn Nineveh and had they not repented God's wrath would have been just. One day this earth will be destroyed and a new heaven and new earth will come. So, it stands to reason that the God who does not change can, does, and will use natural forces to exact judgment. He does command the wind and the waves.

Can't believe the small, small vision of God expressed above.

The winds and waves obey Him. If it happened, it was in His plan.

I know the Lord sent Hurricane Camille to destroy our home in 1969 because I made an F+ in Art Appreciation.

All it takes is a little discernment. The 38 hurricane was sent because on June 30, 1938, the first Action Comic was published featuring Superman, who had god like qualities. The hurricane that devestated Galveston was sent because on March 15, 1900, the United States went on the gold standard, when the standard should have been manna and unleaven bread.

I do not think anyone is saying that God cannot do anything He purposes. If he sent a hurricane everytime we did something wrong, we would be in a perpetual hurricane warning. When God does act, it is for accomplishing His plan. The purpose is not to make us shake in our booties, or perform magic acts, or to stimulate our flawed minds. It is a purpose much deeper and higher than we can conceive.

God expects us to consider our ways.....

1._____ God hath decreed in himself, from all eternity, by the most wise and holy counsel of his own will, freely and unchangeably, all things, whatsoever comes to pass; yet so as thereby is God neither the author of sin nor hath fellowship with any therein; nor is violence offered to the will of the creature, nor yet is the liberty or contingency of second causes taken away, but rather established; in which appears his wisdom in disposing all things, and power and faithfulness in accomplishing his decree.
    ( Isaiah 46:10; Ephesians 1:11; Hebrews 6:17; Romans 9:15, 18; James 1:13; 1 John 1:5; Acts 4:27, 28; John 19:11; Numbers 23:19; Ephesians 1:3-5 )

6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

7 And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.

8 So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

9 I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

10 I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the Lord.

12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.

Those are good verses. There is no doubt the Lord uses natural catastrophies at times and places of His choosing to accomplish His plans. What is amusing is our minds trying to figure out when it is the Lord, and when it is another storm. (although everything is controlled by the Lord). Not only are there those who think every storm, earthquake, tornado, or economic collapse is a judgement from God, there are probably judgements from the Lord that went completely unnoticed by anyone. I have seen hurricanes that destroyed our house, earthquakes, extreme ice storms, etc. If one is not in the disaster area, it is just another news story. It is quite a different situation if you are the one that lost the house.

All of the things that are happening now, from the earthquake in Haiti, and other regions of the world, to the tornadoes and hurricanes that are going on here in the USA are signs that the bible is in the final stages of time. Wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes in divers places, pestilences, seems like I read this somewhere before.........
