1 Timothy 2:1-3: I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior,

As believers we are to pray for our President.

As believers are to offer petitions and intercession for our President.

As believers are to offer thanksgiving for our President.

Yet it seems most only want to do this if the right political party affiliation is involved.

I hope that we as believers will obey this text no matter the outcome of Tuesday.

Sad to see so many Christians on social media and message boards disobeying this passage today.

I voted for Romney and was hopeful he would win. But he did not. The people and God has spoken.

Where are the prayers for our president?

Where are the intercessions for our president?

Where are there thanksgivings for our president?

God has given us what He deems necessary for this time and place. We should be submit and obey.

TadQueasy, hopefully more folks will let go of the bitterness and move on and do as God's word directs. But I think what you're seeing is a primary reason that some have said this election had become an idol for some. So much so that even now they are not willing to obey.

He probably will do something impeachable. But I doubt Congress has the fortitude to go after him.

    From Kevin DeYoung

Our good, gracious, and sovereign God, we pray for the the President of the United States.

Grant him wisdom, courage, and integrity as a man and as a leader.

Keep him faithful, kind, and loving as a husband and father.

Give him a heart for the poor, concern for the powerless, and compassion for the weak.

Put before him the best information and the most intelligent counselors so he can make good decisions about economic policy and judicial appointments.

May he be guided by both courage and restraint as he commands our armed forces.

Make him a defender of the unborn, a protector of marriage, and a champion for religious liberty.

Make him a man of prayer and a daily student of the Scriptures.

Give him humility to admit his faults, forgive his enemies, and change his mind.

Lead him to a firm understanding of the truth of the gospel, a resolute commitment to obey the Word of God, and a passion to promote what accords with your truth.

By your grace, heavenly Father, may our President be a better man than so many expect and a better man than we deserve.

In the name of Jesus our Lord, let it be.

This man is holding the office of the president illegally. He never met the constitutional requirement of being a natural born citizen. Technically he isn't president. You all call him what ever you like but as for me the man is still an imposter holding an office for which he is not legally qualified.

This is what we get for putting our faith in men instead of the law.

I have been around quite a while, and basically agree with your post. I have prayed for the President and Congress several times in church, that the Lord would use them for His will. On your last point about the right political party agenda, I am just as angry in relation to the Senate. The Republican nominees in Indiana and Missouri made statements about the pro life issue in a manner that showed no common sense. If one is running for an office that requires leadership, then one should know the electorate that is going to elect them. The statements about God ordaining rape and similar statements angered a good number of voters. The effect is that both candidates lost to their Democratic opponents, and handed the Senate to the Democrats in a greater number than before the election. There is no excuse for this, especially in two conservative states like MO and IN. The only voice left to oppose the Obama agenda is the Republican House, and if Congress does nothing for the next two years like the last two, then the House might switch back to the Democrats.

I pray the Lord will hear our prayers and have mercy on this nation.

We (Christians) have rejected the truth at every turn, we have fallen for every deception and rejoiced in mocking those who have tried to inform us and put us back on the path of righteousness so why should we now expect God to have mercy on us?

Just a guess here , Poncho, but are you talking about yourself here as the truth bearer that was rejected and mocked?

Jesus said "let no man deceive you" and yet despite all the evidence that governments throughout history have turned into totalitarian states under the very noses of their citizens we have convinced ourselves that our government is somehow immune from tyranny.

If that ain't gullibility I don't know what is.

The Germans of the 1930's mocked the "conspiracy theorists" of their day too. Look where they ended up. Look at this last "election" it was a choice between a socialist fascist and a fascistic socialist. Choosing either side put us in the camp of the enemies of the republic. So which camp did you choose?

Why would God have mercy on us? Maybe because it is His will. Unless of course, He has read your insightful posts.

So it's God's will that we become slaves to the state? That's not the argument He gave the Israelites when they wanted a king.

I do not know what God's will is for this nation, and guess what, neither do you.

It's a repeat of the very same things that Israel did. He says repent but we think we have a better solution.

We spit in His face and set out to take God along in the boat with us across the lake instead of letting Him lead the way. Ain't been bout nary an ounce of repentance. But we want mercy?

There are still folks on this board who refuse to call the man their President and who seem to want nothing but bad for him. But we want mercy for us?

Riding the birther train with Donald Trump only makes one look as foolish as he.
