I've never found out why, when the secularists are so bent on "separation", they are quick to hold governmental elections in church buildings. I get the convenience - location, facilities, etc - but isn't this hypocritical? And why are so many churches happy to let Them use Our facilities?
Opinions welcome as well as historical facts.

    everywhere?

well, I ... don't know. I have made the ill advised assumption (NOT a rare event) of thinking that all parts of the country do this. I have lived in the south all my life and have know it throughout this region. I guess yankees hold voting in churches.
    Do they where you live?

We used to use a lot of schools but now we have one place for a city of 60,000. It's in one of the convention center buildings at the state fair grounds. However, we have more and more people voting by absentee ballots.

I suspect that having such a ready supply of churches in the South is one reason why its common there.

Several churches are used here in Upstate NY. With many locations - lines are not that long.

The tax man has declared the church shouldn't dabble in politics but it's okay to use them as polling places. If Christ was still the head of the church instead of the tax man He would be whipping the pollsters with a knotted cord.
