I simply taught, preached, wrote God's Word: otherwise I did nothing. And then, while I slept or drank Wittenberg beer with my Philip of Amsdorf the Word so greatly weakened the papacy that never a prince or emperor did such damage to it. I did nothing: the Word did it all. -- Martin Luther

 I love this quote, so I had to steal it. :godisgood:

While I know there is no ill intent on it we cannot use usernames in thread titles.

I reported my OP and asked for the title to be fixed.

I have long thought it would be great to sit with a bunch of theologians and enjoy a good stout beer together.

    I also like this one:
Growing a beard is "a habit most natural, scriptural, manly, and beneficial." Spurgeon

Title fixed. Sadly, left the grammar (should read "Luther Quotation". "Quote" is a verb that is continually misused in colloquial verbage as a shortened replacement for "quotation")

    You're welcome. :)

haha! Yeah, that's a funny one... Luther had some funny comments... also had some really ugly and disturbing things to say later in his life.

    Thank you, Dr. Bob

Maybe we can also kill off FOR FREE. It's just FREE. Or For Nothing. Or Without Charge. But never, no never, no never FOR FREE.

Thank you for the title fix, although I could do without the smug grammar police.

Dr. Bob is not smug, and neither am I. I am, however, super-sensitive.
I spent a half-century in broadcast news I am still constantly amazed with the knowledge that some who make their living with the language do not have a command of it.

As a news executive, I spent a lot of time spotting and correcting grammatical and usage errors by reporters with college degrees.

And those who preach the gospel and teach the scriptures risk their credibility with a mis-use of the language.

Okay, end of rant. Sorry, I just got my hot button pushed and couldn't resist.
