I know this is early, but in 2016, who's the front runners?

Honestly, I no longer care. I doubt if we'll even have a nation by the time the results of this last election shake out. I don't plan to be around.

 

I am with Lady Eagle on this issue. At the moment it makes no difference who runs in 2016. It will probably two varying degrees of liberals.

I am as disguisted with the GOP for giving the Senate to the Democrats as I am with the reelection of Obama. Aside from all the government antics, Obama has four years to pack the Supreme Court. That lasts long after a President has left office. The totality of the government is disfunctional. Our leaders act like they are doing us a favor by rolling up their sleeves and getting us past the fiscal cliff. That is what they are paid to do, govern.

They are nothing but a collection of self centered slobs, some are liberal slobs, and others are conservative slobs. Regardless of political philosophy, an honest politician (LOL) has got to have a heart for serving the people.

To make a feeble answer at the question, my guess at this point would be Biden will be the Democrat front runner. I do not believe Ryan will be the Republican front runner. It could be Rand Paul, or Governor Scott or Christie. That is so far away, and the ramifications of this election are so unknown, who knows? Maybe Decemeber 21 is when we all really check out.

 

I believe Republicans need to start preparing one now.

 

I look for Paul Ryan to be a front runner in the 2016 election. I think Hillary is tired, Joe B needs to go join all the other retired politicians.

 

Salty, just my opinion, as there are too many pitfalls from this election and events in general in four years. December 21 is the first one to get over, followed by the fiscal cliff ten days later.

IMO, no, Paul Ryan will not be a major player. He did not help the ticket. The ticket did not carry Wisconsin or any neighboring midwest state except Indiana, a given. Also, many of his speeches were proven inaccurate. Another liability is his budget published in the House in black and white. His resemblence to Eddie Munster does not help either. (LOL)

Walter Mondale ran in 84 after the 1980 defeat, but Mondale was actually VP and did help the ticket. I think someone like Rand Paul, Governors Christie or Scott, or the Governor of Louisiana (cant spell the name off the bat), a new refreshing face, not a retread of a former election like Gingrich.

On the Democrat side, although it makes no difference to me, I would say Biden with opposition from a moderate. Romney will never be heard from again.

In the next four years we could see a packed liberal Supreme Court, the most long lasting effect of this election, plus all the other socialist, liberal antics. This thread assumes there will be a 2016 election. If there is, my guess is that the country will be begging for conservative leadership.

With all the unknowns, I have no idea if a third party will make a difference in 2016 or not. Maybe Barney Frank could run with Rosie O'Donnell as his VP.

 

With a liberal Supreme Court a swing to conservatives in the Whitehouse and in both the House and Senate will not mean a thing.

 

In all honesty, this is the most uncertain four years facing us in my lifetime. I am 60. I fear the power to appoint to the Supreme Court more than any. Guess who approves the appointments? The Senate. Guess who is in charge of the new Senate? The Democrats. Guess why? Because two Republican nominees who should have won easily had big mouths and no common sense. (IN and MO).

 

I am in total agreement with you, not just higher ups, but us. We have to work at the grass roots level to change the Republican Party from within. A third party will not work, unless something radical happens. But alas, as in 2008, with McCain, we all forget for four years, then in the spring of 2016, we will have another group of liberal to moderate candidates slugging it out to defeat Biden. Now is the time to start.

 

I heard an interesting observation some years back by Mary Matelin who is married to James Caraville, otherwise known as the snake or something like that. He was on the Clinton team.

MM when asked the difference between a Republican politician and a democrat politician said in effect: "A democrat can look you straight in the eye and lie to you, a Republican can't."

That was obviously before the days of Harry Reid, him of the shifty, downcast eyes.

The question for you convicted1 since you fess up to being a democrat: Is Mary Matelin correct?

Incidentally, how did you enjoy the democrats worshiping at the altar of abortion, endorsing taxpayer paid contraceptives and taxpayer paid abortions at their convention. There they idolized Clinton and Obama and took God out of the platform to the cheers of the delegates? Of Course the name "God" does not belong in a document that glorifies the slaughter of unborn children!

The democrats are stupid but not sufficiently stupid to nominate Biden! Any how don't you know the Republican Party is the stupid party!

 

And Harry Reid is talking about ways to reduce the number ov votes to stop a filibuster!

 

Isn't he a Senator from South Carolina? I do not recall the exact state.

 

The Fox News pundits are already pushing Rubio our front. I think they are looking at all the chatter of Romney losing the Hispanic vote and jumping to an I don't know much about Rubio except that he is charasmatic and carrys himself well. Sure he could garner the Latino vote but who will he scare away? The anti Mormon crowd lost it for us this time? I'm sure there are many in the GOP who won't vote for a Cuban. Same old problem, fragmented GOP.

Hillary is toast, especially after the hearings...plus she really needs a new hair stylist and make-up artist, and I mean artist...lol

 

OR on occasion, to be fair, can put Republicans through the ringer. He has made several posts on Republicans like Mitch McConnell, a big spending liberal, RINO. He also recognized the mistakes of the statements made by the Republican nominees for Senate from MO and IN on pro life. Their harsh remarks caused the loss of those two seats to the Democrats in otherwise conservative states, and handed the Senate to the Democrats.
