A lot of folks here were fully supportive of Gov Romney's campaign. He had a great number of proponents and defenders here. Many were detractors and opponents. Either way, isn't it time to heed the advice in his concession speech.

Thank you for posting that. It is the first I have heard of Romney's speech, which I am in total agreement with. This is great advice for the Congress and President to heed as they try to solve problems like the fiscal cliff which they have played games with for years.

The reason I missed Romney's speech was that on election night, I was so disguisted by 10 pm after the news said Obama has the electoral votes to be reelected, I turned off the TV and went to bed.

As Gov Romney said all citizens need to act now. Everyone needs to understand that there are fellow Americans who are not going to be swayed in their point of view. Both sides have a choice - destroy America with hatred and divisiveness or find a way to work together for the common good.

Quite possibly I am naive in my view because I have lived outside the US for nearly 20 years, but I, like Mr Romney, believe in America and the American people.

    Here we go again.

Democrat: I want to take more of your liberty.

    (True) Republican: No. No more.

Democrat: Let's compromise. I'll agree take less more than I wanted to. Can't you agree to that?

C4K: Yes, yes you MUST. A true Christian kisses the butts of oppressors. It's the gift of God to kiss Obama's butt. Its vapors rise as a sweet savor to God.

I have a message for you, C4K. The Constitution, not the President is the rightful ruler of this nation. I will submit to what is written in the Constitution. I will yield and obey that. All those who violate it, whether elected or not, whether natural born or not, are usurpers and tyrants, and in obedience to Christ I will render to them their due—the edge of the sword.

    I agree. Time to listen.

Time for Obama to lead. Don't expect that anytime soon.

    Ideologues don't compromise often.

    Exactly right.

So what does John Boehner say at his first opportunity? "We will not consider a tax increase on the wealthy."

And what does Obama say? "I'm not wedded to every detail of my plan. I'm open to compromise."

Looks like Obama is being the statesman here and Boehner is doing the political posturing.

And there you have it--my first post praising Obama. Bookmark it mont974x4.

Obama holds firm to tax hikes as he invites Hill leaders to talks on 'fiscal cliff'

President Obama, claiming his election "majority" was a vindication of his fiscal policy, held firm Friday to his intention to include tax hikes for America's top earners in any negotiations with Congress to pull the nation back from the so-called "fiscal cliff."

The president, in his first remarks from Washington since winning a second term, urged officials to "get to work" on the issue as he invited congressional leaders to the White House next week. He said he's open to "compromise," but did not appear to budge on what has been a central disagreement over the last two years -- whether to extend the Bush-era tax rates for everyone, or to let them lapse for households making more than $250,000.

    Nope.

    Exit Poll data:

Should taxes be raised to help cut the budget deficit?
    Yes 63%
    No 33%

The difference...Obama is lying. He is on record for refusing to sign any tax package that does not include a tax increase.

And raising tasxes will not cut the deficit one cent. Obama and democrats will spend all we send them.

"Did not appear to budge" is typical Fox News commentary within the news story.

    Try this:

Obama never expressly said that tax rates on top earners must return to the higher levels of the Bill Clinton era, leading to speculation that he was willing to soften the core position of his re-election campaign to get a grand debt deal with Republicans.

"I'm not wedded to every detail of my plan. I'm open to compromise," he said.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner are signaling they're open to some compromise on a taxes and spending to prevent more financial pain in the new year, but the two sides are digging in on raising taxes for wealthier Americans. Obama said Friday that his re-election gave him a mandate to pursue that position because "the majority of Americans agree with my approach." Boehner is still insisting that raising tax rates as Obama wants "will destroy jobs in America."

So you disagree with Gov Romney that we should have faith in America and the American people? How could you support someone so naive?

The answer is not in politics. The answer is the church which is in apostasy and it needs to return from its lukewarm heart. Our leaders have lead us astray. The Lord is judging the church and has sent a strong message by putting the current President back into office. I believe that any person who voted for President Obama was voting for an anti christ and any person who voted for Mitt Romney was voting for judgment because of a compromising heart.
Far too many are claiming to be conservatives when in fact they are liberal at worst or moderate at best. Many want to title of conservative but walk and live as a liberal or moderate. We saw this in Mitt Romney who claimed to be conservative, but was a moderate at best, and many in the church joined hands with him becoming partakers in his sin. Someone has said when faced with the task of choosing the lesser of two evils, DON'T!
Today we need Daniels in the pulpits, and in the church who will sacrifice all for holiness and truth. Unless this happens we will continue down this self-righteous road of claiming to be one thing while we are in fact another. We need to take heed of what we have done to the word of God because of compromise and repent and call on the Lord to heal our churches and in turn our land can also realize some fashion of stability. Otherwise we are doomed as a nation.

We are already doomed as a Nation. I believe 09/11 was a wake-up call. I believed that before viewing the DVD on Isaiah 9:10. America as a nation did not repent.

No, the Lord is judging this nation as a whole. The Lord is not "judging the church."

You are entitled to your beliefs, even though they are in error. There was quite enough bashing of Romney supporters on this forum throughout the election cycle. You are setting yourself up as judge on Gov. Romney (because you do not know his heart) and you are setting yourself up as judge on the members here who supported Romney because you do not know our hearts AND you must have not been reading through the various threads about why we supported a candidate who is pro-life and pro-traditional marriage and liberty, for starters.

What are you personally doing to change that?
