Interesting article. I remember telling folks back in 2008 when he was being elected the first time that we had just had an incredible test run of how the Anti-Christ would come to power promising to bring hope and peace and change, and folks falling out over the "world's new savior".

But back to this article. How does one push back against evil by supporting more evil?

Why don't you write this pastor and ask him? The article says he supported Romney.

I was suspicious of Obama going back to 2007. There was a website that was very popular back then, many thousands of folks believed Obama could be the antichrist. I have to admit I wondered myself.

Mega-church preachers should stick to the gospel. Such pronouncements as that from the OP simply turn many people off from Christianity. So, the man does not like Obama. Fine. I have lost count of how many people have been called THE ANTICHRIST in my lifetime. They weren't and Obama is not leading us to the Antichrist.

The whole world was turned off from Noah and repentence for 120 years, CTB.

But that's why I asked how he explains pushing back evil by supporting more evil. Just doesn't make much sense if he's serious about turning evil back.

There is definitely some supernatural stuff going on with him. There was enough campaign killer scandals surrounding him in 2008 that ANY ONE would have sunk another person's candidacy.

Couple that with an avowed Muslim, Louis Farrakhan, saying that Obama( a man who said that he is a Christian) was going to be the savior of the world, and my eyebrows go up.

I don't think he can be dismissed merely on poll numbers. We see the influence he has on people. We have no idea what could be in store either during these 4 years or after. He could abruptly step down after destroying our freedoms. We just don't know. Just like it is foolish to claim someone is the Antichrist it is equally foolish to claim someone is not. If the pre tribe pre mil view is correct, all believers will be gone. His numbers would go up quite a bit without the church present.

I would have to disagree CTB. If you look at end time revelation and where an Obama administration's policies are taking the country, he could well be leading us to the AntiChrist.

If the country is laden with enough debt and the bottom drops out of our economy as a result, we will cease to be the world's lone superpower. And with the collapse of the US economy, the world's economy collapses. And with no economic/military superpower, chaos will break loose.

And SOMEONE has to step in and bring the world back from the brink of destruction and bring peace.

Yep. I'd say there is a very good chance that what Obama and our government are doing right now as far as making policies will indeed usher in the rise of the Anti-Christ very soon.

They may actually get a little help to speed up destroying the economy from some "outside influences".

I doubt it seriously. All my life there have been people saying the same about people they do not like. People may not like Obama's policies, but surely they are not bringing about the anti-Christ. Just isn't going to happen.

This has all happened before. Remember 1929. The entire world went into a deep depression and the anti-Christ did not appear.

Well, peace would not have been brought about by Romney. He was beating the war drums against Iran, Syria, etc.

I promise you it will not happen in our lifetimes.

Europe is having big problems economically and it will affect the US economy, but it will not bring about the anti-Christ.

Pastors should preach salvation through Christ and not be concerned about the end times. After all Jesus said "No man knows ........."

I believe Christ was telling the truth.

I do not know about Obama specifically but the liberal mindset will lead us in that direction. The mind set that supports Planned Parenthood, the slaughter of unborn children, taking excessive amounts of money to give it to someone else, pitting classes against each other, pitting races against each other, dividing this country for political gain.

Yep, the evils of liberalism will send us toward the anti-Christ.

Ah and the mindset that says what you just said and yet stands by an ideology of not helping others once they are born by cutting nutritional programs, health care programs, educational programs is just as anti-Christ.

Christ spoke a lot about helping others. He was mute on abortion.

You are either ignorant of some facts or you are not being honest. But I believe it is part of the warped mindset of liberalism that says if the government has not done it then it has not ever been done.

Conservatives give far more personally that liberals. We put our money where our mouths are. We do not believe government should be involved and we live it. Liberals give little to nothing personally and only want to collect other people's money to give away.

So that you do not continue this error I suggest you research this better.

So why do you say "it just isn't going to happen"? Do you mean his policies won't bring it about or something else? The US has to go down in order for the Anti-Christ to move into the picture as we're not significant, at least from what Scripture says, in revelation.

So why could it NOT happen?

Israel didn't become a country again until 1948. So in terms of what Scripture says has to happen, it has NOT all happened before.

    Of course it wouldn't.

I just don't see any way that you can say this unless you're God and we know that you are not.

    Why not?

That's unBiblical. Scripture is Scripture. And pastors are called to PREACH THE WORD. And that word includes end time revelation.

To unilaterally CHOOSE to ignore what Scripture says about end times would be to take the same stance that a Joel Osteen takes in deciding what he will or will not preach about.

And Christ inspired the end time revelation events that were written about. So why on earth would pastors ignore this?

    1. Too many people think we are in the end times ... so we aren't. No man knows and people will be totally surprised when it happens.

    2. The US is not mentioned in the Bible IMHO. So I do not see any reason to believe the US has to go down before the anti-Christ will come.

We are and will remain a Capitalist country. I see no movement toward nationalizing all industry and making them state plants/companies.

I remember Charles Fuller was so excited when Israel became a country. He was absolutely sure that the end would come during his lifetime. Others since him have preached the same.

God does not dance to our timetable. Remember a thousand years are like a day to God.

Oh I'm not God and that is why I believe God will bring about the end in his own good time and in his own good way. But I firmly believe it is a long time off.

Scripture is scripture and interpretation is interpretation. Scripture is true. My interpretation, your interpretation, everyone's interpretation is subject to error.

I don't ignore it, I simply do not dwell on it or think that I am god like enough to know ... except it will not be soon, soon in man's reckoning of time.

Because people's salvation is much more important.

I guess Robert Jeffries has to keep stretching to fill the shoes of WA Criswell. This is yet another example. You know, when people outside the Church hear this stuff they just laugh and it places yet anothe barrier between them and the Gospel.

Anyways, if should be noted that this kind of over-realized eschatology isn't agreed upon by all of Christendom. Not to mention the Bible doesn't speak of an Anti-Christ as Jeffries has imagined this figure to be.

My view is that God does not wait around in Heaven for humans to accomplish something and then decide that the time is ripe for the Second Coming. Alternatively, one could easily believe that everything humans do gets us closer to the Second Coming.

I quit practicing news headline eschatology years ago.

Good for you. God will do things in his own way in his own time. To me it is a waste of time to speculate that it is soon. I feel it is much better to preach salvation and leave the end-times to God.

Scripture says that no man knows the day or hour of Christ's RETURN. it doesn't say that we don't know or will be surprised about when the end times take place.

In fact Scripture presents just the opposite picture as it tells us what things will be like in the end times in Matthew 24 and elsewhere.

It doesn't necessarily say that the US has to go down. But in order for ONE MAN to step in and seize leadership of the world, a leadership vacuum has to exist.

How do you remain a capitalist country if your currency is worth nothing?

But what does this have to do with these not being the end times? Scripturally certain things had to take place and they did not take place until after 1948.

Yes He will bring it about in His own good time. But I definitely see more proof of His own good time being sooner than later.

But what does that have to do with preaching what the words on the page say? Some of those words reference the end times in giving a full revelation of who Jesus is.

I'm not saying to dwell on it. But it is part of the narrative that tells us who Jesus is. So we preach it just as we do all parts of His word.

End time revelation concerns that same salvation.

Another good example is Pat Robertson. His reputation with those outside is no longer based on his ministering as much as it is with his tendency to make oddball statements.
