I cannot believe Obama would name a war protester as Sec of Def. What is becoming of America...we've turned it over to idiots. I guess we deserve this...

I can believe it. Obama wants to destroy America and he is succeeding, chip by chip. We are on the road to being destroyed from within.

What's wrong with that choice. In hindsight most agree that Vietnam was an illegal and immoral war. Kerry just saw it sooner.

You are quite correct C4K. Kerry fought in the war and later came to realize it was a huge mistake and turned against it.

I do not see where conservatives and Republicans have much in the way of moral grounds to whine about seeing as how they have gotten us into such messes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe it is time we had a head of the State Department who is not as trigger happy as those in the first 8 years of this century.

There are ways of handling problems other than killing people. Seems to me we should have learned that by not from our own experiences and from the lessons of empires throughout history.

As an aside I remember being in a university geography class in 1959 and the professor saying, "One place you never want to be involved in a war is the swamps of Vietnam" I came to see the wisdom of his comment.

Actually, more Iraqi women and children were starved to death during Clinton's years than the amount of military and civilian causalities since the invasion.

But Kerry is an idiot. Even you have to admit that. He was before the war before he was against it. he threw COPIES of his medals away so he could keep the real ones. Being against a war you participated in should not be the only qualification. Should it ?

I do not believe you can back that up. In fact, I believe you are simply passing on another out-of-touch right-wing myth that is not grounded in fact.

There are new reports stating that more children are starving now than under Saddam.

It is estimated that 110,000 to 120,000 civilian casualties have occurred since Saddam lost power.

    http://www.iraqbodycount.org/

Lancet, a highly respected British medical journal puts the figure much higher at 601,027 violent deaths out of 654,965 excess deaths

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancet_surveys_of_Iraq_War_casualties

I won't go into the immorality concerning these deaths.

I have backed it up to you numerous times. Several, several times. Ignoring the facts is the choice you made, not me.

And I just showed you that it is worse now than before the war began.

    So you continue the myth.

Crabtownboy, you can remain ignorant. I just don't care. Your reprobate neo-con democrat heroes are just as trigger happy as the people you accuse. I posted that up for general information, not to tweak you.

And, Kerry voted for the invasion of Iraq. For all of his feigned outrage about Vietnam, he sure has a short memory.

Let us just consider the wars of the last 100 years or so:

Wilson, a democrat, got us in WWI.

FDR, a democrat, got us in WWII.

Truman, a democrat, got us in the Korean Police action. There was no declaration of war.

Kennedy and Johnson, both democrats got us involved in Viet Nam. There was no declaration of war.

Reagan, a Republican Patriot, rescued certain American students in Granada.

Bush 1, a Republican, intervened in Panama after four American officers were attacked and one was assassinated.

Bush 1, a Republican, defeated Iraq after they invaded a neighbor. There was no declaration of war.

Bush 2, a Republican, invaded Afghanistan after 9/11. There was no declaration of war.

Bush 2, a Republican, invaded Iraq because of faulty intelligence from a CIA emasculated by Senator Frank Church, a democrat. There was no declaration of war.

So Crabby before you adopt that "holier than thou" attitude of the far left count up the number of dead.

Furthermore, Kerry is a far left, rich Yankee ideologue.

Maybe, but he is a veteran and was far ahead of most of us in seeing the wrongness of the war in Vietnam.

S/N you are just upset because Ashley is going to be your next senator. You must learn to look at the bright side. Which one is prettier, that means easy to look at for old folks, Ashley or Mitch?
