We often use the quote button to to answer another persons statement. But I see to two things:

    1) Quoting an entire post. Why does someone quote the entire post, even when there are dozens of lines? Often the new poster is talking about only one or two sentences. Going thur said quoted post is, well, you know what I mean

Will someone enlighten me as to why you post the entire message:

    2) Not using the quote button. When using the quote button, it readily identifies the original post. Also, the shaded area also readily identifies the portion on the new post that was quoted. Makes it hard to properly read.

will someone enlighten me as to why you post a quote without using the quote button?

I like quoting the whole post and then act like I didn't read it to begin with. If you quoted without using the quote feature would it really be a quote? Don't quote me on this but to quote or not to quote? That is the question.

Often it is because some posters have chosen to use special font and colors. So when you take out a portion of the original quote now you have to deal with editing out the font tags and color tags and sometimes size tags.

I'm not going to mess with all that. But in the end why does it matter if the whole post is quoted?

I like it when you write in pink. It's kinder and gentler.

Hehe I bet Madre loves your sarcasm. But I bet church members do not know what to do with it.

Although I learned recently that some folks who do not like to quote the entire post does so because they want to misrepresent what you originally said.

The first word we taught our kids to say was "quote." They have been taught to say "unquote" as their last word on earth.

Because 20 years ago I learned that

    >> meant older quote

    > meant newer quote

and it is easier to read.

    Pink is hard to read.

Bringing this up because it is a pet peeve of mine

The main reason would be when it is a lengthy post.

Then they need to be called out on it - of which I had done so in the past

The problem with that is that it does not indicate who the original poster was and in addition - you can not click on the button to take you back to the quoted post.
