I have another post on a similar topic, and this quote I have another post on a similar topic, and this quote (Are you really asking why someone from a poverty stricken situation in Mexico or Central America would be desperate to come to the United States? <> Yes, risking their lives. Every year people die trying to cross into the United States from Mexico. To say nothing about the journey through Mexico, especially from Central America. In spite of these risks, they are still coming, knowing full well they could die or be arrested and sent back home. It has not slowed to a trickle like you suggest. <> Even in your day there was a glimmer, as small as it may have been, that things could get better. For most in Mexico and Central America, if they are not born into some type of wealth, there is not chance for anything other, then what they have right now, none! Even if they go into the drug trade their already short life span has just been shortened. They come risking their lives for at least a chance, a shot) is from one of the responders. His words make me want to cry some of that blue-bleeding-heart liberal blood!

I disagree that illegals are coming to America out of desperation. Sure they are living in poverty, when you compare their conditions to that of the poverty level's folks in the US, however, I firmly think illegals are risking it all today because they know American's and the government are soft on enforcing the law of their borders, and that "amnesty" is a possibility, which means it is worth the risk to hurry and get here to enjoy the "cheap path to citizenship" that is about to happen. It is from one of the responders.

They're coming here for a chance at amnesty, free public education, welfare, medical care; they can qualify their parents for citizenship at age 21; they can vote, and it is all legal!

America offers a free pass to illegals via anchor babies and crossing the borders (undocumented). It must stop, or this country will go from "melting pot" to "mushy pot!"

Our forefathers had a reason behind the laws they wrote, so we need to enforce those laws, and change others (i.e., Anchor baby laws), before it is too late.

Please take a moment to respond to the attached poll!

There is no single reason that fits them all. An "all of the above" might work.

That said....the core reason.....sin. People are sinful. The main sin....pride. There is no other reason, and no excuse, for their insistence that our laws are beneath them.

    Another FANTASTIC Response!

Of course, like me and the others above, we have yet to hear from our liberal brothers and sisters. Strap yourself in, for the "Jumping dwon our throats is soon to be released!"

Lots of reasons, some good, some bad. Don't know why it really matters though.

Many for the same reason other immigrants came and continue to come - for the chance of a better life. Unless you're a Native American, there's always going to be an element of hypocrisy in complaining about immigration.

Believe it or not, I actually agree with you on this point. While laws should be followed, you are right. We, the great white anglo saxon majority (for now) did the exact same thing. Mainifest Destiny they called it. One other point worth bringing up. We as Americans think we are too good to perform jobs that a few decades ago we would have performed, like working a farm, digging ditches, and other labor intensive jobs.

The reason I cannot work in retail is that I have no tolerance for the prevailing attitude that everyone thinks they are the King of England. Frankly, I would not care if someone had to wait eight instead of five minutes at a drive through, or if I forgot to put the mustard on the proper side of the burger.

This problem is not unique to America. Most of Western Europe faces the same problem.

. . . dialogue should be continued: They're a threat to our ways of slavery and child and other human sacrifice.

    Interesting Point...

I had to share this when I read your statement about anglo saxon whites. M and I moved to our last community (lived there over 18 years). It was a healthy mix of races. But, mostly white.

This past election cycle saw some Hispanics take offices away from staunch, long time Republicans [Anglo saxon whites], like Mary Bono for one, and a recent study of why the Hispanics won seats in this election had to do with the surprisingly large number of Hispanics.

In our community alone, Hispanics grew from 19% 20 years ago, to 76.1% today.

This would explain why on the weekends, there were Mexican Quincenaera's, fiestas and loud Mexican music coming from almost every home on our street each weekend. this also meant year-round use of illegal fireworks [Disneyland type], illegal mexican food vendors on every corner, and the Mexican flags flying off numerous homes on our street, too!

Family and friends would say, "Paul why don't you and your wife take a Mexican cruise and see another country!" I'd respond, "Whys spend the money when I practically live in Mexico now!"

Also, redevelopment money was used by the city to build a huge open air Mexican market in downtown.

When we left our home town in September, we felt like the minority, and this post election demographic study only confirmed what we thought. We were NOW the minority in this wasting away city.

Wasting away because, The Super Target and Super Walmart with Lowes and Home Depot, planned to be built here only five years earlier, pulled out due to the lowered yearly incomes of families within the city limits, from what it was ten years earlier when they were making plans to build large shopping malls in the city.
