What is more accurate, listening to a firsthand account...or listening to what somebody says he means?

I don't know, how high is up?

    You didn't answer the question.

For me, if its between a media outlet and a brother who has devoted his life to making disciples, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt to him.

Couldnt it be noody is lying, that the OCR published misinformation?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did RW say the doc didn't exist and that no one on his staff had anything to do with it? Is Abraham Meulenberg not on his staff???

I'll agree with you dog. I will side with a brother in Christ over a secular publisher. How's that?

think a problem with pastor Rick is that either His staff is doing things behind his back, or else he refuses at times to jsut admit is now a liberally social Christian!

...or someone in his church invited a Muslim to their small group and the small group came up with this as he said.

Interesting that the reporter of the original King's Way news article has not responded to Warren's rebuttal. Considering Mr. Warren had this to say:

Predictably, to defend himself after my interview corrected his errors, the Orange County Register reporter released a segment of the so-called “document” to the I-hate-Saddleback bloggers – giving them a supposed smoking gun. Unfortunately, he forgot to ask if any Saddleback pastors had actually signed or even seen this paper. We had not!

    and

Let me be clear: This entire misunderstanding is neither the fault of Saddleback members nor our Muslim friends who accepted the invitation to study the Bible together. It’s the result of poor reporting and the willingness of irresponsible bloggers who hate us to automatically believe anything negative about our church. They shoot first, publish a report, then ask for clarification after they’ve done the damage, and finally, they never retract anything when proven wrong. When a national news agency contacted us this week, their conclusion was “There’s no real story here.”

I would think to any responsible journalist, them's fightin' words! But no response from Mr. Hinch.

Isn't Abraham Meulenberg one of the Senior Pastors? Did even the small groups pastor not know about this if it was a small group event?

About the Kings Way event, apparently at least one other Saddleback pastor knew about it. Tom Holladay as quoted in the OC Register story:

So again, what is Saddleback working TOGETHER with Muslims on? You've supposedly agreed to not evangelize each other.

What is there to work together on if you've agreed to not point back to Christ with it???

Warren has denied that they agreed not to evangelize.

Same things we can work together with Catholics or Mormons on. Gay rights issues, abortion issues, caring for orphans, feeding the hungry, etc.

And WHERE has God called His people to work together with Catholics and Mormons or ANY non-Christian on these things?

Perhaps He called us to NOT yoke ourselves to unbelievers so that there would not arise any confusion about "partnering" and questions arising about what the "working together" APPEARS to be.

Why on earth would we give the world the impression that there is something "good" about that which is against Christ?

    Scripture says:

14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 2 Cor. 6:14

So if GOD shows that darkness and light, righteousness and wickedness have nothing in common, why do we insist on "working" with that?

Or maybe your definition of "yoked" is wrong.

I don't have a definition. It says YOKED in God's word, not mine.

14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? 15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. 2 Cor. 6:14-16

He asks the question and goes on to give examples involving unbelievers,, unrighteousness, darkness, Belial, and idols.

HIS word says what do you a believer have in common with an unbeliever? If you have nothing in common, what are you working together for?
