Did you see the huge crowds of protesters that flooded the Michigan Capitol on Tuesday? They were there to protest two bills there were being considered by the state legislature that would limit the power of unions in the state. Michigan lawmakers approved the bills and this absolutely infuriated the protesters. There is a lot of passion on both sides of this debate, but I am afraid that both sides in this debate are missing the bigger picture. If we keep shipping millions of our jobs to China, there isn't going to be work for anyone no matter how much power unions have or don't have.

During the month of October, the U.S. trade deficit increased to 42.2 billion dollars. Our trade with China accounted for most of that deficit. Our trade deficit with China in October increased to a new all-time one month record of 29.5 billion dollars. Nearly 30 billion dollars that could have gone to U.S. businesses and U.S. workers went to China instead. Since 1975, a total of about 8 trillion dollars that could have gone to U.S. businesses and U.S. workers went to the rest of the world instead. Shiny new factories are going up all over China, and meanwhile our once great manufacturing cities are degenerating into desolate wastelands. So what is going to happen when all of the good paying manufacturing jobs are gone? Are we all going to fight bitterly over whether we should unionize the low paying jobs that remain at places such as Wal-Mart and McDonalds? Such an approach is not going to bring back prosperity to America. We desperately need to start building things and start creating real wealth inside this country once again. We desperately need to stop sending tens of thousands of businesses, millions of jobs and trillions of dollars of our national wealth out of the country. Unfortunately, I don't see anyone out there holding protests about our trade deficit. Nobody really seems to care, so our economy will continue to bleed good jobs and the middle class will continue to be destroyed.

The funny thing is that the workers that are out there protesting these union bills actually voted for the politicians that are killing their jobs. Both parties are married to the one world economic system and the "free trade" agenda, and Barack Obama has been one of the worst offenders. He has been pushing for more "free trade agreements" throughout the past four years, and yet union workers continue to support him enthusiastically.

How foolish can they possibly be?

Now that Michigan has joined the other 24 states that have curtailed the economic terrorism of unionism all those jobs will now be able to stay in the US instead of being sent overseas by greedy unionists who demand more and more and more and contribute less and less and less and by so doing have priced themselves and their employers out of the world marketplace.

I doubt it. The price of Japanese cars made by non union workers in this country is about the same as the American models. I still wonder how Fiat wound up with Chrysler.

Wow, where do people come up with this garbage? Just because the site has a nice picture, and it reflects your bias doesn't mean it is factual. Fortunately, it's not on paper, because that would have been a real waste.

In the end, if God allows this world to stand long enough, it probably won't make any difference. Ever look at the international union efforts?

Ship the jobs to other countries, then follow up with a union at the new locations. Dues is dues, to fill union coffers, regardless of their origin(s).

Globalisation means that more jobs will go to China and the other BRIC countries regardless of whether or not there are unions. It's called capitalism. I would have thought that the majority here would be all for that...

They were, but only when it was Bush that was shipping the jobs off to China and Indonesia. Then, of course, it was fine.

Mitt Romney attempted to break up General Motors by buying off their parts manufacturing and distribution branch and relocating it in the far east as well. That, though, was simply an honest businessman attempting to get ahead in a dog eat dog world, and was perfectly OK for most folks here.

So what are you saying, the solution to this is to keep arguing about which party is most at fault? We've been doing that for 80 years and it hasn't solved anything yet.

Keep in mind many of those protesting were teachers. So many teachers refused to do their job that schools were closed because of safety concerns. So much for the "think of the children" claptrap. Those teachers should be be fired. They should have taken some lessons from the Hostess situation.

It has never been about the children. It is all about the teachers and the teacher alone.

When you have a job with decent pay and benefits you should not rock the boat.

When you work for an organization that is not fiscally sound you should not demand more money.

If you are unwilling to do the job you have there are others that would be happy to have it, and probably for less money.

It is better to sacrifice a little and keep your job than it is to demand (protest) yourself into the unemployment line.

Why does it always have to be the employees who make the sacrifices?

Hostess was taking money from employees paychecks intended to go for benefits and using it for "other purposes" while at the same time paying out millions in bonuses to the people who were bankrupting the company.

Why should employees make sacrifices while corrupt employers make out like bandits?

Okay. Well, while we're all waiting for the answer we can read this.

The article you're reading right now, however, is not about "Right-to-Work" laws, nor unions, nor even Detroit. It's about the startling realization that this violence is only the beginning of what's going to happen across America as one state after another goes bankrupt and is forced to slash pay for unionized government workers such as teachers and cops.

It's about the sense of desperation we see today where people are panicked that "there's not enough to go around." Financial scarcity has turned to fear... and fear to violence. But if this is what happens after a contract dispute on worker pay, imagine the chaos that's going to unfold when "the Big Money Lie" emerges.

What is "the Big Money Lie?"
