Including "Loners"

Today our church witnessed the baptism of a long-time professed believer who wanted to be baptized because he had not yet followed through with Christ's commandment to do so.

This person leans heavily toward being a loner, and he/she feels very uncomfortable in a group/crowd setting. How can we as a church best include this person in our fellowship without putting any undue pressure on him/her to attend our small groups/fellowships, etc.?

 

John of Japan. Thanks. That is certainly one idea that I've considered.

I've also thought about giving him/her a copy of the study that our group will be beginning on January 9. I'll let him/her know what chapter we'll be doing what week. He/she can join us if he/she wishes..... or he/she can pose questions, offer comments, etc. thru the one-to-one mentor type.

I think the worse thing we can do to the loner types is to put too much pressure on them to 'be a part'.....at least right away. Hopefully, they will come around on their own time.

The main thing, of course, is that we do not forget them.

This person is fairly well versed in the Bible....and I think he will enjoy our next study ("Crazy Love")..... which makes the reader look deeper into the Bible.
