Pass a budget with real cuts...which includes a repeal of obamacare since it is a budget destroyer.

It won't happen, but that's what I'd like to see done.

The first thing the Congress should do is uphold the Constitution of the United States, as intended by our founding fathers.

Then, chose the next item on the to-do list. Pass a meaningful* balanced budget which does not include funding for ObamaCare.

*Use Obama's promised scapel on expenditures. Do to this budget the same thing scores of unemployed hard working Americans have had to do in order to keep a roof over their heads.

The constitution does not require it to be upheld as "intended by the founding fathers." It was set up to be amended as needed, and interpreted by the courts. Please point to an example where it is not being interpreted in a manner that is inconsistent with the way the courts have determined it should be interpreted.

The American people need to be protected from profiteering rip-offs in insurance. If it takes Obamacare to get a proper discussion on the subject started, and it leads to the kind of medical care system a country of our size and wealth should have, without leaving a third of its citizens behind, then let's move that discussion forward.

There is nothing wrong with taxing the wealthy at a rate that equalizes the proportion of their spendable income. It's been done before, and it worked just fine.

Military budget and spending should be slashed. It has been proven this could be done without compromising our safety. Avoiding disasters like the Iraq war would be a good place to start cutting.

Gun control that preserves the right of law abiding citizens to bear arms can be achieved.

Interesting proposal. Why not just abolish the EC and go with the popular vote? Abolishing gerrymandering of congressional districts would be high on my list. Having independent commissions draw the boundaries, instead of the majority party who controls the state legislature.

    Already done.

We cannot safely cut defense spending. That is a pipe dream. Do you remember how many people were killed because it took so long for the US to spool back up for WWII?

Keep in mind - back just before Gulf War I started the 2nd Armored Division was set to be disbanded - but kept on the active duty rolls due to the War.

Moral- Lets not be too hasty to downsize the Army. You never know when you need them.
In addition - we should not be using the Reserves/NG except in extreme emergency. If anything, reduce the size of the R/NG to keep Active duty at full strength.

At this point in time the best thing they could do is offer to resign and let us decide whether to take them up on it or not.

I agree. In some respects, the Congress is more pathetic than the President. In the Senate, we have a Democrat majority leader who is an Obama stooge and his far left agenda. The Republican minority leader is a RINO, an establishment, large government spender that has the backbone of a jelly fish. On the House side, we have Speaker Bonehead, that looks like a deer looking into headlights. Obama has completely out maneuvered him at every turn in the eyes of the American people. If the fiscal cliff is not agreed to, the Republicans will take the blame.

Congress has not passed a meaningful budget in years. The resolutions the House does pass are known to be headed for failure. Congress as a unit has not governed in four years at least. Their favorability rating is less than half of Obama's at his low point. Congress takes off more days than they work, and when they are in session, they play political games. We the people pay Congressmen and women a very generous salary to govern this nation, along with the perks of travel, staff, health insurance, retirement, etc. The Congress as a whole is a sad excuse for the institution that is suppose to legislate our laws, declare war, and put a check on the executive and judicial branches.

Of course, this is all topped off with no leadership from the executive branch with their far left agenda.

I agree with Mexdeaf that everyone of them should resign, but whose fault is it really? We just had an election. Over 95% of the Congressmen were returned to office. Obama was returned to office. In essence, we have the same government. Why should we expect any different result?
