One of my favorite historical figures of my lifetime. Prayers to his family and friends. Anyone know if he knew Christ?

"going to war without the French is like going hunting without an accordion."

A brilliant military tactician and a great leader of men.

Something this country is in short supply of.

    RIP General.

But dont forget that Stromming Norman indicated how great of a military leader that Hussein was to a room full of reporters:
"As far as Saddam Hussein being a great military strategist, he is neither a strategist, nor is he schooled in the operational arts, nor is he a tactician, nor is he a general, nor is he a soldier. Other than that, he's a great military man, I want you to know that."

By the way, he was the Assistant Division Commander of the 8th Infantry Division, in 1980 the same year I assigned duty with the 8th.

Came across this article about the Good General

From the link: In 1992 he told CNN's Larry King that “I hate war. Absolutely, I hate war. Good generalship is a realization that ... you've got to try and figure out how to accomplish your mission with a minimum loss of human life

and I agree with the General.

I know he was a Jersey boy.....born in Trenton

His father was the NJ State police superintendent.....

    See Below

Major General Herbert Norman Schwarzkopf was the first superintendent of the New Jersey State Police. He is best known for his involvement in the Lindbergh kidnapping case
