2013: Optimistic or Pessimistic?

It will be rough (for reasons I cannot say because of your request in the OP) however no matter how craptastic it will be God will always be in control and it will be for His glory and my good.

 

I agree with you as part of my outlook comes from a political view. God is still in control and can use all things to bring good into our lives.

 

I tend to be an optimist when I am not pessimistic about things. :laugh:

 

Although last year was a rough year, I think we can all say we are BLESSED. God truly still has His hand upon His people. I am optimistic about 2013; I think the Christian has a lot to be optimistic about since we still live in the most wonderful land in the world. But even if we lived in Somolia we would still have God as our protector and Savior, that is enough no matter how bad the world gets.

 

I am optimistic because the Lord is in control. My family has been blessed. The jaw flappers on this board can continue with the 24/7 Calvin-free will fairy tales, or one can start 10,000 political threads about subjects they have no control over, and if they did, would be too lazy to do anything about them. I have a life.

 

Optimistic of course! Every year and every day, hour, minute, second is one year, day, hour, second, closer to being at home with my Lord. We must now just fill our time doing what He has commanded, because He has taken care of the eternity part.

I'm in a wait and see mode :laugh:

 

My thoughts are along a similar line.

It doesn't matter whether I look at things with a + or - viewpoint.

First thought: Thy Will Be Done.

Second thought: Each day, regardless of what the day brings, we can still count our blessings.

-- a cool breeze on a hot day.
-- food on the table even if it's only neckbones and biscuits.
-- hear a child's carefree laughter.
-- didn't/don't have to haul water, split firewood, or fill oil lamps.
-- to simply say: Thank you, Lord, for another day. Thy will be done.

 

Me too.

But I admit to stocking up on ammo (primarily for hunting) a few weeks supply of portable chow and water, batteries and other essentials. We're not proponents of hoarding. And in so doing, I always wonder if being prepared like this is optimistic or pessimistic, or just a lack of adequate trust in God's promise to supply all our needs, or simply good sense.

It's always an internal struggle but we err on the side of basic preparedness. Everything is eventually used and replaced.

 

I would say its good sense. I would suggest that Joseph is a good example.

 

Perhaps God has blessed you with the wherewithall to prepare. Afterall, I dont't think the "standing around with your thumb up your ----- nose" is what He considers having faith in Him to supply all our needs. It seems He has at partially supplied so use this wisely.

 

As a realist, I see the future of America as one of judgment. God does not promise to spare His people from the consequences of our own apathy. We've allowed wicked people to take control of every major institution in our nation because we foolishly expected God to just take care of it for us. God never promised to protect us from enemies we have welcomed into places of influence & authority in our lives.

I believe you will see more of the same of what you have seen over the past few years, more rhetoric and more entitlements The haves will have more and the poor will become poorer and demand more STUFF. That's the law of the jungle.
When you come to the realization that is very little differences between the two parties once they cross the "Beltway". To quote Geo Wallace "Twiddle Dee Dee or Twiddle Dee Dum" Its merely a 24-7/365 campaign to get reelected.

The outlook for Christians should always be good if we're keeping our eyes on Christ and pointing others in that direction.

God's economy is A-OK and He's too large and in charge to go off a fiscal cliff.

Keep your eyes on Christ and it's all good.
