    It wouldn't be in most of the States in the United States. But, I don't know about the laws of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick. The Archdiocese though is taking a very legalistic position. Such a position has turned out to be harmful to the various archdioceses which have sought shelter under its leaky roof.

    I don't think the law varies a lot, that when one knows about a crime that has been committed they are legally bound to report that crime.

    Bigger question is what would God have us to do? Would he want us to report children abuse, regardless what the Catholic/Baptist/Usa/canada laws state? Isn't His law highest One to go by in this regard?

    Of course he would.
    And he wants us to obey both God's laws and man's laws (Romans 13).

    True, but IF the RCC said do not report it, or Usa said same, wouldn't he still require it to get reported in this case?

    A case where we must obey God and not man?

    If the RCC says to its own priests: do not report one another's sexual, deviant, violent crimes, then they are wrong.
    I can't imagine the U.S. government telling its own citizens "don't report crimes to us; it's not our business." :rolleyes:
