I've been listening to conservative talk radio and the latest rumor floating around is the idea that Obama will declare himself dictator

For all you political gu ru's out there

    Two questions

Can he really pull this off??

    and

What do you suppose your state's Governor would plan on doing if such a wreckless thing is pulled off??

What options are available to the governor considering the military is federally ran?

No. Obama is not going to be dictator anymore than Bush Jr. was. Also just curious but which radio talk show hosts are peddling this sort of nonsense-I doubt Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity would say something quite as absurd as this.

He is already dictating. He just hasn't made it formal.

    He is already a dictator.
A president who rules by executive decrees is a dictator.
He is going to trounce the constitution by issuing an executive order for gun control.
no wonder aliens like Pierced Moron call it just a "little book".
our own president has no respect for it.

Yes, he is already behaving like one.

However, I will refrain from further comment until his gun control measures are made public. I suspect they will make NY's new laws look downright friendly.

The leftie talking heads on CNN and MSNBC already are going crazy over this. They say extremists on the right are endangering our country by even positing this. I can see them enacting "The Fairness Doctrine" again.

depends on what the executive order was for.
I am specifically referring to his intent to use his powers to issue such orders to skirt the constitution.

the constitution guarantees that the right of the people to bear arms shall not be infringed.

Banning the possession by law-abiding citizens (which by definition a gun holder is, having passed the requirements) of so-called assault rifles is an infringement.
Limiting the ammo capacity of firearms that can be owned by civilians is an infringement.

An executive order may be issued to clarify or further existing laws, and there are no laws existing that deal with the above as far as I know. If there are, then please inform me.

Am I in favor of assault weapons, military-grade firearms, in the hands of civilians ?
    No.
But until the Constitution allows laws to be passed that say otherwise to what has been guaranteed under the 2nd ammendment, "non-infringement", anything passed apart from congressional action is dictatorial.

And even if I am wrong in saying that by using executive decrees Obama is a dictator, as far as I am concerned, he has no business issuing anything at all, not even a memo, until he clears his name in the deaths of four Americans at Benghazi.
Something which he will find very hard to do without manipulating the offices and personnel under him.

How many of these other presidents had the power to detain citizens indefinitely or assassinate us without due process?

Abe Lincoln? His federal troops committed more than a few atrocities in the southern states.

Ain't gonna happen my friend - despite talk radio wackos pandering to the fears of the far right.

That's not what the liberals were saying about Bush. They called him a Nazi fascist dictator and took to the streets protesting his wars.

Of course now they all love the same things in Obama they aggressively opposed in Bush and Bush didn't even claim the power to assassinate them without benefit of due process.

Of course the same neocons who loved Bush say the same thing about Obama.

I do agree that the presidential assasination issue is worthy of impeachment, but too many neocons support that because it was a terrorist at the receiving end.

I can't see where the neocons got all that much to complain about in Obama he is following their plan to "remake" the middle east, country by country. About the only legitimate gripe the neocons have is Obama hasn't started bombing Iran yet.

Obama even helped take one of the neocon's pet terrorist groups (MEK.) off the terrorist list for them. So they could legally give them aid and support to commit acts of terror against the Iranian government.

It's called destabilization and it's an act of war. I've been reading the constitution quite a bit lately and I can't see where it gives the president, the neocons, the UN or NATO the authority to destabilize any country using "former" or currently listed terrorist groups or "rebels" as they are so lovingly called in the mainstream news. But maybe I'm mistaken.

Just when I think I've seen it all, the nutty right floats something like this. It just plain won't, and cannot, happen.

    No. He won't do that.

What he will do is continue to carry on as one until Congress generates enough guts to stop him.

I don't look for that to happen anytime soon.
