    Hebrews 9-26: For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world:but now once IN THE END OF THE WORLD hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

    1st peter 4-7: but the END OF ALL THINGS IS AT HAND,be ye therefore sober and watch unto prayer.

    Here we see both Peter and Paul have the same language--and the rest of the epistles gives the same hint they were all expecting something BIG at that time in their lifetime.

    END OF THE WORLD(AGE) and END OF ALL THINGS ???

    What could these texts mean ?

    What do YOU think about these texts ??

    Seems as though people either do not like these texts or are afraid to look at them :)

    Do a word study, dude! The word is not "end" but "foundation". And how do you know Paul wrote Hebrews??? And there is something in the bible called inaugurated eschatology (already/not yet). Jesus has ushered in the new age (age to come; age of life) even though the present evil age still exists and runs concurrent w/ the inaugurated age.

    Can you expound a little on this 'already/not yet' with some scripture? I'm sincerely curious about it.

    I find that Consummation is the word for End in that text.

    Consummation means end,last,finaL

    So could it have said the consummation of the ages ?

    Some believe it meant the end of the jewish theocracy and the beginning of the Kingdom reign on earth.

    It's The End of the World as We Know It?

    I hope I don't offend anyone with this R.E.M. song. I just felt it may lighten up the debate that is sure to come out of this controversial topic. :wavey:

    since it had behoved him many times to suffer from the foundation of the world, but now once, at the full end of the ages, for putting away of sin through his sacrifice, he hath been manifested; Heb 9:26 YLT

    And of all things the end hath come nigh; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers, 1 Pet 4:7 YLT

    teaching them to observe all, whatever I did command you,) and lo, I am with you all the days -- till the full end of the age.`Mt 28:20 YLT

    I'm not FP and don't neccessarily agree with all these, but it is a good list overall:

    Agree. :thumbs:

    18 For ye are not come unto a mount that might be touched.....
    22 but ye are come unto mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable hosts of angels,
    26 whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more will I make to tremble not the earth only, but also the heaven.
    27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that have been made, that those things which are not shaken may remain.
    28 Wherefore, receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us have grace, whereby we may offer service well-pleasing to God with reverence and awe: Heb 12

    I believe it means we do not know what hour or day Christ will come. That we As Christ followers should always be watchful. I look at it this way; With each passing moment we are that much closer. If we are watchful we will be more careful with our witness while we are watching because we are expecting Him at any moment. I wish to be found doing what the Lord want of me.

    Greetings friend :)

    the scriptures that was spoken by Jesus or the Apostles were to the people of their time in whom they were speaking unto(the scriptures were not directed unto me and you but unto the people they were spoken unto)

    So when Jesus was telling the Disciples of that day--when YE see these things come to pass--When YE hear of these things coming-When they take hold of YOU and shall kill YOU.

    The disciples of that day were gonna behold just what Jesus had told them was coming :)

    Jesus said THAT Generation would NOT pass away until all those things he told them come to pass :)

    Even told some that they would not see death till Jesus come again--

    Even though the bible is FOR us--it was not TO us:)

    Hope this helps you :)

    I've often seen views like this associated with dispensational theology.

    Is dispensationalism accepted Baptist theology, or does dispensationalism exist along with other theological views within the Baptist denomination?

    You have to read that whole chapter to understand what is being said. This is prophecy.
    In;
    Mat 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

    First of all you seem to think Jesus was speaking only to those with in hearing of Him. That may be true but He was also speaking a prophecy of what was to come. Christ never said when but kept that a mystery. Christ went on to describe all of those terrible events yet they did not happen in there life times. So who was Christ speaking about when he got to this verse;
    Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

    The key to understanding this is the last generation. The ones who see that all these events have already happened. In verse it says;
    Mat 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

    This means that the times will be like the days of Noah just before the flood. For that you have to read Genesis to know what those days were like. They were evil and perilous times. There was no Law Moses wasn't born yet.

    All of the prophecy here has not been fulfilled yet. Yet I do not look for the end I watch for Christ appearing in the clouds

    I do disagree with you on this:)

    Jesus said THAT Generation would not pass away till ALL THOSE things were fulfilled :)

    Jesus told some they were not going to die until he came again.

    He told another one that they would see him coming in the clouds.

    Jesus would not have told them that when THEY see these things coming and so forth --The Prophecy was for them--yes it was still future-but future to them and it happened in their lifetime. :)

    their days were also as the days of Noah were...

    Matthew 24-38: they were eating,drinking,marrying,and giving in marriage.
    what does these things mean??
    Means they were going about their everyday business as normal just as they done in the days of Noah and did not hearken to what Noah was telling them--Jesus told them this to let them know they also were not heeding his voice on what was coming just like as the days of Noah were so were the days in which Christ was in :) JUDGEMENT was coming!!!
