C'mon OR let's try to keep this fair and balanced.

We have this democratic government of today playing on the heartstrings of Americans in a bid to restrict our freedoms and the liberals are falling for it hook line and sinker.

I see where you're coming from and I agree with you. Lefties aren't thinking this through at all.

But, not to long ago we had a republican government that played on our fears in a bid to restrict our freedoms and conservatives fell for it hook line and sinker.

Now you can say that the republican government was only trying to protect us from harm but the liberals can and are making the same argument about gun control but one has to ask if one wants to be honest with him/her self is how much of these threats are hyped?

As a conservative you can see how much the democratic government is hyping the threat of gun violence to restrict our freedoms.

The liberals could see how much the threat of terrorism was being hyped by the republican government to restrict our freedoms.

I'd just like to know how is it then as Americans we cannot admit that both democrats and republicans have and will hype threats to restrict the freedoms we (all of us) once enjoyed?

What it all boils down to is we have a government that hypes threats to restrict our freedoms period. The only thing that stands in the way of our reclaiming the freedoms we've lost is the division amongst righities and lefties, conservatives and liberals, republicans and democrats.

We've been divided, now we're being conquered. Why do righties and lefties refuse to see this? It's plain as day. We're going to all go down because we refuse to give up our fear and loathing of the "other side".

Now I ask you as a American, not as a conservative or a liberal but as an AMERICAN. How smart is that, really? Is it better to be made a slave by a republican government or a democratic government?
