    At this time, the lifting of the ban is just that: The lifting of the ban on gays. However, the way I understand it, individual units in the organization can still decline to allow gay members and leaders in their chartered units [see attached article for more info on this policy].

    Still....how many sponsoring churches will drop their affiliation with the scouts and no longer have troops or packs at their facilities for two reasons:

    1) The moral issue of gays being allowed to participate as scouts as well as leaders, which is not in line with the church and their Biblical world view of homosexuality?

    2) The possibility of lawsuits when kids are molested [and they will be molested]. I would think both the scouts, and the sponsor will be named in future suits, and this along with the moral Biblical issues will cause churches and religious groups to refrain from sponsoring scouting units.

    I also have to wonder how the Mormon church is going to deal with this. They are supposedly anti-gay, and Boy Scouts is their official youth program, however, the following article is a little eye-opening in light of all that's been going on within often the secretive Mormon church.

    We don't now, so it isn't going to affect us. I could be wrong, but here in town, I don't know if any churches support the BSA or if the BSA rent space from the church.

    From an article today it does appear the Homosexual Lobby has succeeded in their efforts to end Corporate Support of the Boy Scouts. Sponsors have ceased their support in groves. A sad tale.

    Accordingly, to keep the money flowing Boy Scout Management have decided to cave in to the demands. What if there is a mass exodus of boys who leave the Scouting Program?

    Sometimes you just have to say "no" and stick with it but here, for a fist full of dollars they cave in. Certainly not the Boy Scout program(s) I remember. I wonder if they will alter their pledge to satisfy the agnostics?

    "On my honor, I will do my best
    To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
    To help other people at all times;
    To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

    Is it possible that many churches will consider going to programs such as Boy's Brigade and AWANA

    There's also Royal Rangers.

    Churches certainly have options.

    Will not be able to support them any longer, for they have caved in to the "dark Side' of our society!

    Well....

    ...."morally straight" will have to come out in those units who allow gay members and leaders in their ranks. They can't pleadge to be "straight" when they are far from straight? :tear:

    We don't have any secular groups in our church. We have Boy's Brigade and Pioneer Girls.

    Voted the wrong thing. Should have been too soon to tell. Asking the question is one thing. The answer to the question is what I'm interested in hearing.

    This puts me in mind of watching the Episcopal church going down the drain. The catalyst was the then Newark NJ Bishop John Shelby Spong & his promise to a fledgling Gay priest to support his coming out (on the condition he would renounce his open homosexuality & endeavor to live a chaste life) This priest swore he was curbing his proclivities & his real devotion was to Christ & his duties to his flock as a Christian priest.

    Within months of his ordination, it became evident that this con artist had no intention of keeping his promises to Spong & he had his gay lover move in with him (at the parish house) & they lived an openly gay lifestyle....some would even say a Gay Militant lifestyle.

    The reason I mention this is that I believe this is the slippery slope moment for the BSA. Where will they draw the line when it will become an open invitation for pedophiles to swarm in. A sad day for the BSA I'm thinkin.
