We have a dog, a couple of hamsters, and some chickens, and yes, the chickens all have names.

Although I stated I have a cat,it is erroneous to suggest she is my pet. She has gracefully allowed me to minister to her needs in the regards of suitable food, grooming (particularly around her chops), heating etc.

If I fail her in her demands she nips my feet.

We've got a hermit crab on permanant loan from one daugher

And a 130 lb Rotten Lab (Rotweiler-Labrador) named "Speed Racer" on loan from another.

Of the two, the crab is the more dangerous one.

    I'm a cat person.
My husband is a dog person.

My daughter is allergic to cats.
    I'm allergic to many dogs.

So we just got one. A Cat-Dog. Seriously. LOL She's a Bassenji mix. Very cat like. People think she's really cool. They aren't used to seeing dogs act like cats!

I'm allergic to her. It stinks and is a constant battle to keep things cleaned. I didn't know a short haired dog could shed this much.

But...she's a rescue and she's staying. We got her around two years ago. She was quite ill and it's been a joy to watch her recover and her personality start shining!

She's a very unique, bright little critter. OTOH, she does have a habit of walking into the glass door if she's excited about going out and not paying attention. I think she gets that from me. LOL

We have had 3 full blooded basenjis, 2 of them rescues. They do not shed much at all. Yours must have gotten that from the other half. They do clean like cats, can't bark, but can yodle, which is sort of a howl, but eery. Does yours yodle? One of our Basenjis could jump up to the top of my head and I am 6'3" tall. They are very unusual dogs and can climb like a cat. We would come home to find them walking or laying on the top of the couch. 2 of them insisted on sleeping in the bed, under the covers. They are stubborn hounds and can be trained, but do not like to lie down. We do not have one now as our dog we do have is mean to other animals, so he is an only dog.

Arbo, I'm absolutely drooling over that pic. Is it your garden and dog, or one you found somewhere? What a sweet looking pooch.

I had one who died a few years ago named Annie. I loved her....she was around when my son was young. And yes, from a standing position, Annie could jump 6 feet in the air like a spring. & she was a rescue.

We now have 3 British bull dogs.....the two rescues are blind.....and I make them eggs every day cause I have chickens in the back yard that are also pets.

Was Annie a black and white? We had 2 black and whites and 1 tri. They are all dead now, but we loved them as well. 2 were rescues and 1 we got as a pup, just weaned.

Bulldogs are neat, my uncle had one that went with him everywhere in the back of the truck, but it would never jump out.

BTW, thanks for the advice on the pup eroni. :) It is now my dog's new favorite snack. I never thought he would choose it over the duck breast from Costco, but he does.

Annie looked like a little German shepherd....White, Black & Tan.....and fast as heck. I had a quarter acre in the back against a mountain range & used to tease her about the squirrels in the bird feeders. One day I yelled squirrel & opened the back door...she did about 60 yards in a second & ran down the squirrel.....actually she thought the thing was playing possum with her till I went out there....she charged him so quickly that she gave him a heart attack. Man I got stories about Annie tangling with a bear and also skunks. She was much faster than the bear but with the skunks.....not so much. She was a great dog & I miss her still.
