What worship style does your church follow? Traditional, blended, contemporary, liturgical, other?

Ours is a cowboy church so you can imagine what is predominate. But we try to have something for everyone.

It is mostly traditional, with some contemporary music interspersed very selectively. The pastor uses powerpoint and the hymns are sometimes put on the screen, so you can use your book or look at the screen. I guess you would call it a blended service.

    Well, obviously we're "blended"...isn't everybody?

...the question is "how BLENDED are you?" :)

I'd say we're contemporary and tend to do hymns in a more contemporary fashion as well. To give you an idea, here are the song lists as copied and pasted from the e-mails from each worship leader at each campus (I set up the computer for all three campuses at the moment).

Now, as the person who gets the song list and knows that there are numerous versions of the same title, is the Come People of the Risen King the hymn or the Getty version? LOL

Old school standard, Lining out is a form of a cappella hymn-singing, Preachin the gospel & foot washing. Being our brothers keeper. Our chief end is to glorify God & to enjoy Him forever. :love2:

    Simple huh! :godisgood:

VERY similar to our church! I guess I'd just call it "worship music" and leave it at that! :tongue3:

    That helps!! :)

I can't remember off hand what song it is, but we have three songs with the same name. The worst thing I can do is to just guess and get it wrong for the operator. That's why you see the first two campuses gave me links so I could at least look up the songs to be sure that I have the right version! :)

Liturgical w/traditional hymns--some familiar, and some...not so much. However, we are going to start slowly and selectively blending in some of the better contemporary songs.

What is the difference between Tradition and Traditionalism? Tradition is the living faith of the dead. Traditionalism is the dead faith of the living. (Jaroslav Pelikan from The Vindication of Tradition)
